VBAC SUPPORT

Kaylee is 22 months old and was born via 'elective' c-section.
I always said I was open to any birthing method because I didnt want to be disappointed if natural didn't happen.
As it turns out Kaylee decided for us and she never turned head down so at 36 weeks we scheduled a date for c-sec.
It all turned out for the best because the cord was around her neck and keeping her from turning, and given her medical history it was probably exactly how it was meant to happen and with this I have peace.

I am now due with no 2 and am 21 weeks pg due end October.
I spoke with gynae at this week's scan about the possibility of VBAC and was really glad that he didnt immediately throw the risk factors etc in my face like some are known to do.
He explained that we would wait until 36 weeks and at that point assess whether baby is head down and lying nicely, where the placenta is, placenta calcification (which I had with K), amniotic fluid, and shape of pubic bone to determine whether it will be suitable for natural birth. (Apparently some pubic bones are more triangular in shape which causes problems in getting baby through the birth canal rather than oval which is better suited for natural birth).
He said that studies are showing the scar tissue doesnt seem to pose as much an issue as previously thought - I guess provided the rest of these things are going to plan.

I heard from a friend that with a VBAC you cant have an epidural in case the scar tissue ruptures in which case you need to be able to feel it.
It was the first time I had heard of this before.
But since then I was thinking I should give hypnobirthing a try as I'm not sure if I would be able to handle completely natural since I have nothing to compare it to.

I thought I would start a support thread for mom's who are pregnant and planning on doing VBAC's (Vaginal birth after c-sections).

There seems to be a perception of a lack of support for VBAC's from Gynae's that some moms are even scared to bring up the topic.

So we can chat here about our birth plans and whether our gynae's are supporting us and planning for that big day!!!

Also if any moms have had successful VBAC's please do share your success stories, and those who tried and it didnt work please share too!!!
