Hi girls

Quick 'selfish' post again as DH wants to use the PC and I want to go sleep.

Had 36w scan today (Cant believe its so far already!)
Baby is still head down but floating high up, no sign of engaging yet (I know this can happen at the very end). But basically doc doesnt want to allow natural unless she has engaged. My pelvis is apparently triangular so combined with baby staying high he will do a csec. But if she drops he will consider natural.
He is willing to take it one week at a time still, and provisionally put down a csec date of 19 Oct (39w) and I will see him at 38w for another internal / scan.
Still lots of place, placenta is fine, babys growth is on track and I'm fine too. So he's comfortable not doing a csec 'early' at 38w which I'm relieved about.

There isnt a whole lot I can do to get her to engage, so we are on wait and see approach and I'm trying not to get anxious about it. Just happy hes still willing to wait a little longer and who knows she may move down. She is extremely busy though wow!!!

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Im new to the group and I too am hoping for a VBAC. I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow, due between 17 - 21 November. However today I thought I was going into labour and I think that is what they called Braxton Hicks, got some really bad cramps on the upper part of my tummy area where I couldnt sit up straight I had to lean back on my chair, I had to do alot of breathing, it was quite painful and very uncomfortable!Took a while to subside, eventually I went to sit in our boardroom by the window and did some breathing exercises which seemed to have worked. And now I just have a tender feeling where the cramps were and baby is moving around like crazy since then.

I last saw my gynae at 24 August (which feels like forever) and had a 4D scan on 10 September, my next appointment is next week friday, 5 October and I really cant wait. at 30 weeks baby was weighing in at 1,5kg. Wonder what her weight will be next week.

This is my 2nd baby, my daughter was quite a smallish baby weighing in at 2.97kg. They say 2nd babies are normally bigger hey, let hope not too much bigger so that I can have my VB this time round.

Enjoy your weekend all!

Thank you Yvette. I get the idea you are being quite hard on yourself, please don't be. I know exactly how it feels to be so very disappointed with the way your birth went but that is no reflection on you or how informed/ uninformed you feel you were or weren't. 20 hours is a long time to be in labour though, sjo, I am sure you must have been scared!!

widget, they told me that because i had been in labour for 20hours already i could not go further. just at that time, the cx were really hectic and i was scared. i spoke to dr dumbrill on the phone but cannot remember now what he said. the birth unit was busy and understaffed so they pushed me to get going with cs. like i said, if a vbac is seriously what you want to do, you must be fully prepared and knowledgable of the process of labour and signs to tel you where you are. have a private midwife to guide you if you want a vbac becuase its all too easy to be wheeled into theatre. i think i was not equipped enough with labor information and support. and that was my downfall.

lee-ann i had my first child at 3.64kg vaginally, 52cm long and big head at age 19. i am a size 10 and small hips and he came out perfect. if we read up on anatomy and physiology about babies and birth, their skulls almost overlap as they pass through the birth canal. as far as i have read over the years, only a very few mummies cannot birth a baby vaginally for the baby size and also more likely issues with hips and coccyx etc. so i really doubt you have any thing to worry about. my SIL had her son 4.4kg vaginally!!!! sure they had a little shoulder dystocia but changing birth positions to ease the shoulders out helped.

ladies, if you search VBAC or Ina May Gaskin on kalahari.net, they have awesome books on labour and birth. i've ordered some already. exclusive books doesn't have much of a range, just your regular preg/birth books.

if we drink raspberry leaf tea, won't be a prob for a vbac mom as it apparently strengthens the cx? wouldnt that be a contraindication?

Hello everyone!

Lee-AnnF, my dr also said baby needs to be 'relative size' but he didn't specify what weight baby needs to be around for him to feel comfortable for me to attempt VBAC. At 41 weeks I couldn't deliver a 3.19 kg baby with 34cm head the first time round.... :(

Anyway, but he did tell me last time towards the end of my pregnancy that I can deduct 200 grams from the weight that the sonogram estimates... I agree that you should at least be allowed a trial of labour regardless of the size of your baby! You never know! I'm not a professional it's just what I've read in my pregnancy book. ;)

Missesmom & Hasie I don't know much about homeopathy but I do believe it has merit. I thought of trying the evening primrose oil & the raspberry leaf extract. Can I start this at 37 weeks? And is it really safe to insert the evening primrose oil??

Yvette thank you for sharing your story. It really is terrible to read that you were not supported by the nurses! What happened that you had another c-section? Did they say anything to you? I never even considered that this might happen, I thought if the doctor is happy for you to try VBAC then everyone at the hospital would be supportive!!? Good luck with conceiving your next little one! :)

Hi there

I definitely agree with you Joybaby... with my LG the labour process started spontaneously... the doc did recommend upping the antics in the bedroom, and i definitely think this helped!

And DH wont be complaining
