Hi Gain-a-baby
I also check blood sugar twice a day and send readings weekly to physician. Last night was very high - 14.9
With my first pregnancy i wanted normal birth and around 35 weeks, my gynae said that the baby was quite big and that i should prepare myself for a c section. I was devastated and cried all the way home. However on my next visit he said all was fine again, with baby in correct position and i can probably go ahead with natural birth as planned???

although it didn't make sense how she was no longer too big, I was over the moon!
At 39 weeks, I noticed some clear liquid on undies and I happened to chat to a friend who is a nurse and she suggested i go into hospital to have it checked out.
When i arrived i was given a pad to wear and was kept for observation. My gynae visited and said that he would induce labour the next morning. Although nothing further was picked up on pad in terms of a show. The next morning they inserted medication that contains prostaglandins to induce labour. Nothing happened after a few hours, so they had to administer another dose of meds to try again. Not long after, the contractions started - this was around 10h00.
I was 5cm dilated, but by the afternoon the baby's head was not engaging and by 16h30, it was pretty much the same situation. My gynae then suggested an emergency c section. Although i was disappointed, i did accept that perhaps it was for the best, but felt afterwards that perhaps my gynae was to quick to conduct the c section.
I was also diabetic during previous pregnancy which my previous gynae did not pick up - the paediatrician picked it after when she examined my LG after she was born. She just said - this mother is diabetic
Peyton was then hypoglycaemic for the first two days - had to give her formula topups in addition to breast milk to bring her sugar up to normal.
I got so carried away with the birth of my baby and everything else that i never went to have blood tested for diabetes and gynae never checked either on 6 week visit.
It was fortunately picked up by my new gynae at 28 weeks and i have been treated since then, so i suspect type 2 diabetes and not just gestational diabetes.
All the best for tonight/tomorrow morning xoxox
