Kiara, only the size 0 has the gap.

i feel kind of the same about a babyshower, but that is bacause i had a big one last year. and also i still have everything since my boys will be so close together and i have another boy. All G's small clothes are still looking so new, that i really do not even need clothes

maybe you can do what my mom is going to do now, and then you can stand your ground and be in charge.
my mom is going to organize a get together for friends and family to welcome the new baby, more of a blessing day and not an official baby shower.
we will only then for those insisting to get a pressie ask for a baby city voucher as we will need to get another carseat.

Stellak, I didn't know Huggies had a gap for the cord! That is awesome because I also got a pack from my medical aid. I'll get an extra one as well.

Kay (my little one) was 2.6kg when born and outgrew things so quickly! But on the other hand, I had gone waaaaaaay over board with the cute little new born outfits. hehehe...

This might be seen quite rude, but I want to ask that there be no baby shower for me. I had one last time and I have to say I didn't enjoy it one bit. I completely appreciated all the gifts and kindness, but the games and dressing up, etc were not my cuppa-tea... I love throwing showers for friends and family but I'm not keen on one myself...

Angie, with brand of nappies it is a personal preference thing, and also your baby will have a very big influence on it as some nappies just work better than others.

i use cloth diapers and really love them all, i have a few diferent types and brands and havn't came acros one that i dont like.
now with this one i am going to do cloth right from the start. i already have a few newborn cloth nappies.
but for newborns with cloth the old style flat nappy apparently works best, so i will try that out and be getting a few flats and prefold with covers.

with disposables, i used the huggies size 0 and thereafter pampers. G has a very sensitive skin and gets a rash immediately in huggies. but pampers stink much more. cudlers are a bit more "paper'y" but they worked ok. the clicks brand are also very nice.
for now with G when i use disposables i use pampers premium (also the most expensive one unfortunately but that's the one he gets the least reactions to)
when baby get to 1 year old and really start peeing alot, a few of my friends are now getting the clicks brand as the say they last a bit longer at night as their babies out-pee the pampers and huggies.

it is perfectly normal to feel that way and ask a lot of questions. this new little person is going to change your life and your perspective on everything forever.
the hormones just intensify the feelings and it might get even worse the closer you get to the end.
but please you have to talk about it, do not keep these feelings to yourself before it gets to overwhelming, this can very easily turn into post natal depression.

hehehe, Angie. i have only seen Huggies with the umbilical gap. haven't seenthe other nappy brands make one yet.
that size 0 nappy is the tiniest little thing ever and you will not think that i baby will ever fit into them.
i used 3 packs of them.

I am with you on this one.

Especially since its my first. I hardly sleep. My mind is on overdrive.

I will be moving from my current job when I get back from Maternity leave as the demands are too high. I am lucky that my company created a more strategic role due to me having a child. However I am thinking if I would like the new job. Only time can tell...

I am a panic mechanic so I am always stressing on how I will cope. Will I be a good mum. I daily look at my checklist.

Kiara, you can endulge in shopping at the expo - toiletries can last very long in the cupboard.
just keep in mind that you might get alot of things at your baby shower

G is now 13 months old and i still have a crap load of toiletries in the cupboard. G was 11 months old before i had to start buying wetwipes and i will probably never run out of baby shampoo.
