Thank you so much everyone!

Lauz, they called me in advising that I have been placed on suspension pending investigation with full pay, effective immediately. The HR representative said that she had to escort me off the property.

I asked what the charges against me was, but they said they couldn't inform me yet, as it is pending further investigation. They will advise me of the charges in my notice to attend a disciplinary hearing.

I had to sign a document saying I understand the process of being suspended and that I will be informed of the charges.

I was then escorted out of the building.

I have never even received a verbal warning of any nature in the 2 years working at the company. Yet, now I have done something of such a nature that I had to be escorted out of the building with absolutely no idea as to what it is.

I've previously worked in HR and I'm an Executive PA - if we wanted to get rid of someone, this was the exact same procedure we followed "to make up" charges against the person.

I've heard from labour consultant that you are not allowed to suspend an employee, without informing them of the reason for suspension. This was not done...

So now I have to wait for my notice to attend a disciplinary hearing with the charges against me. Once I've received this I can go to a labour practitioner for legal assistance.

But trust me - I will leave no stone unturned!!! If it turns out I have been unfairly suspended I will take action.

Who just puts a 5month pregnant woman out on street?!?!

Hubby is furious... and I am still in serious shock!!! I tried resting this afternoon, but can't even relax enough to take a nap!!!

I'm soooooo scared of the impact this might have on my precious baby!!"

louiseM do not leave the premises until you have physically been given a piece of paper stating the reason for suspension. Get hold of someone in the CCMA and find out the legal side of it, but with my husband he was suspended and given two warnings on the day and he won his case as they didn't hold the required disciplinary hearing.

Further more they cannot fire you during your pregnancy as this will definitely be seen as discrimination.

Good luck and let us know!

Sorry was busy posting while LouiseMarie's post came through. all I can say is   WTF??

This doesn't seem normal at all? Especially since allegations have been fount to be fabricated in the past?

So sorry to hear! I would definitely find out all you can and lay a claim of victimisation. This is preposterous! No meeting with HR or management??

Hi Ladies!!

Wow information overload!! This thread has really gotten busy over the last week or so

Sorry I have been so scarce, things have been a bit hectic. I do keep checking in and reading, but today is the first time I've had a free moment to post. Brace yourselves, its going to be a long one!

On my side, we are mostly moved into the new house. Thanks for all the good wishes. I did overdo things a bit and started "leaking" clear fluid. Well, that was my interpretation, at least. (I didnt pick up anything heavy but we were very busy and I had to hang up a LOT of curtains so we could get the new place warm enough to sleep comfortably that night, and also chasing after a 2.5y.o. to keep her out of DH's way so he could actually get things done). So the Monday I luckily had my 20 week anomaly scan and asked the gynae about the "leakage". After a very unpleasant internal exam, he told me that my cervix is still nicely closed, and that a noticeable increase in clear discharge is quite normal in pregnancy. Could have told me that BEFORE! But I never had this with my daughter so I was very freaked out and glad he checked.

The scan went well, all seems to be normal (Yay!! )

Wow, now I don't know where to join the conversation and which topics to comment on

On maternity shoots, I did one with my daughter, with a friend who is a very good amateur photographer and wanted to try some interesting pics. Some were beautiful, some were very kitsch (I'm NOT generally into pics like that) and some just makes me cringe looking at it now. Not sure if I will do it again, if so it will be so I can show DD2 "her" pictures one day. I'm also not to keen on the look of my own naked preggy belly (someone else remarked the same a few posts back?) So the pictures won't be for me.

That brings me to the next topic  I have aways been sensitive over my tummy. Its quite flat(ish) so no specific reason for me to be that sensitive, but it is the one spot where DH is not allowed to touch me (under my clothes, that is) unless Im in the mood. It has always been an issue in "the bedroom part" of our relationship. (Does anyone else have spots that it makes you cringe when touched there?) Anyway so this makes for a bit of a downer in the bedroom scenario, if I may be so blunt. And DH still finds me beautiful and wants to go ahead as normal, but I know I will either slap him or lose my cool completely if he touches me anywhere I'm not ok with. Thank you raging preggy hormones for making me irritable too!! I feel so SELFISH!! It makes me feel like a bad wife, and if baby nr2 is anything like my extremely headstrong 2.5yo little girl and has colic for the first 4 months, our bedroom life is not about to improve soon :( It really affects my mood and self confidence that I'm not really giving DH what he needs. He is very understanding and not making any demands whatsoever, its me who has my own expectations, and I am not measuring up by a long shot. We talk about it and he says its all ok, but that doesn't make me feel any better. I'm quite depressed about the whole situation, and it not like I had a massive libido even before I got pregnant

Anyway, enough with the negativity!

I have not bought ANYTHING yet for baby (except for the huge red La-Z-Boy :woohoo: ), and I hope we can borrow some stuff back from people I've lent it to after my first pregnancy. I guess I'm waiting for things to settle down after the move, and then I will start on the nursery.

Regarding hospital lists and c-sect etc, I bought a belly binder last time but it was so uncomfortable and kept slipping up, that I never used it. I was back to normal reasonably quickly after the C-sect, without the binder. Not sure if I will buy some shape pants or not? My thinking is that perhaps if you bind your tummy, your muscles don't "learn" to go back to normal on their own, i.e. it takes longer for them to be able to support your frame again (like not wearing a brace for TOO long after back surgery so that your muscles can strengthen again on their own?). Does that make any sense?

Btw, here is some info for 1st time C-sect moms (I didn't know this my first time). They don't actually cut through your abdominal muscles horizontally, like the C-sect scar might make one think. They just cut horizontally through the skin, and then they separate (not cut) your ab muscles vertically. So your stomach muscles are not "cut off" as I first thought. For me, after the first 2 days when you get painkillers anyway, the scar was painful, but my stomach muscles just felt sore, like I REALLY overdid a gym session focused on abs. Hope this time it is the same.

Oh we bought the motorola sound monitor for my LG as her new bedroom is quite far from ours, and she wakes up and calls at night if she need to use the toilet. It works beautifully, much better than the Angelcare did (much less static). But it is the most basic, just sound, no movement or video.

Products that worked really well for us first time were recommended by the midwife who presented our ante-natal class. Strongly recommend the Creche Guard Probiotic sprays. There is one that is a bum spray that works like a charm with rash, and the other (also in a small spray bottle) that is a vitamin-and-probiotic oral spray, that you spray into baby's mouth daily. Gives them a vitamin boost as well as prevents oral thrush and I believe also helped a bit with colic.

On colic, the only thing that really worked (a bit) was chamomile tea. It doesnt have caffeine so is safe during breastfeeding, drink it by the liter! After a while (I really DONT like the taste of tea, can you say coffee-addict :woohoo: ) I just squirted 1ml of weak tea into baby's mouth before breastfeeding, and that definitely helped SLIGHTLY with the colic. And waiting until she was 4 months old :P

Wow, that's quite a post, sorry for the length! Hope you ladies have a fabulous rest of the week!

Gosh! Talk about office politics! You employer would be asking for trouble if you can find anything to indicate that it's related to your pregnancy because it would fall under discrimination.

Hope it all works out.
