Just saw your post o the cloth diapers and my apologies if this topic has been discussed - but where did you get yours? I only learned yesterday how nice the cloth diapers are and I am really considering using them instead.

LOL I am so uneducated when it comes to these things -still have alot to learn.

Glad it worked!!! I found Dischem's bath oil to be much cheaper... it costs R99 for a 2l.

I think all Netcare hospitals wirh maternity wards have to be Baby Friendly accredited... makes your birth plan so much easier!

Just got back from my 4D scan, awesome experience! will post a pic or 2 later... My LG went with us and she was very interested in "Sussie" She insisted that her Godmother, who is a doctor, "take Sussie out of there!" Really cute for an almost 3 year old

LouiseMarie, thanks so much for the advice. I plan to buy the Bath Oil today, was going to go to Clicks yesterday but then got stuck in 2+ hours of traffic travelling from my office in Germiston to home in Randburg Needless to say I was REALLY looking forward to a bath by then Added LOTS of just normal lavender bath oil and that already worked miracles, feeling lots better today.

PP we had the Angelcare one with LG, and it really did work well. It seems to have gotten left behind when we moved though (of all the essentials that one can lose in a house move that's probably one of the worst!) So I'm also in the market for a new one. I will look at the TommeeTippee one as well, and completely agree that it needs to be thrown out regularly OUTSIDE, but at least the nursery doesn't smell bad.

On c-sect, once again I agree, having a c-sect earlier than originally anticipated was actually really positive for me. I went on Maternity leave from the Monday I was 38 weeks (was carrying really small and still not very uncomfortable) and my LG was supposed to be born on that Friday by scheduled C-sect (for various medical reasons). I didn't know how I was going to keep my mind off negative stuff for a week, just sitting idle at home. But at my Monday 38 week checkup the non-stress test showed that her heart rate was just too constant, she was running low on oxygen, so Dr ordered me to the maternity ward and she was born on the first day of my official maternity leave I had a really good experience, Sunninghill Netcare also do gentle c-sect and I was breastfeeding within 20 minutes of her being born. I really hope things wil go as smoothly this time round.

This little one is also big (1.4kg at 29 weeks) and me and hubby are very tall (I'm 1.8m and he is 1.92) so I hope she sticks around till 38 weeks...

Pp i have that nappy bin, i've never expirienced that smell, but maybe it depends on how long you keep the dirty nappies for.

PP, with Elmarise we had the Diaper Champ (the large one). It takes a regular shopping bag, so no need for expensive refills.

They say the Angelcare & the Sangenic (Tommee Tippee) works better gor smell control as the nappies are individually wrapped.

We honestly NEVER had a nasty smell problem with our Diaper Champ. The key to ANY nappy bin, is to clean it out frequently! We emptied ours every second day, took it out every weekend for a thorough wash with domestos and then leave it out in the sun to airdry.

My SIL also had one, and we were always nauseous when visiting them, cause they didn't clean it frequently, never washed it and to top it all off - they put it right in front of the window where it would get full day sun... It was absolutely disgusting!!! We actually gave ours away when El potty trained and it was still clean and fragrance-free.

On the nappy sacks - waste of time and money!!! Cause that nappy bag helps NOTHING if you dont through it out in the big dustbin outside... trust me: poo nappy smell has the ability to get out of anything! Even a pee nappy can be smelled if left overnight in a nappy sack. Nappy sacks are made of extremely thin plastic...

Maybe look into the diaper champ. It works out R200 more than the ither nappy bins, but you never have to buy a refill (which costs R100 each).

@Juanita - I'm glad you're taking time off to get better. No one at work is going to worry if you run yourself into the ground or thank you for doing it so you need to do what is right for you and your LG.

As far as babies coming early, I'm also starting to wonder if El is going to make an earlier appearance... but I think that that might also be because I'm becoming to anxious to meet her! I agree with Louise as far as the labour coming before the scheduled C-section, at least you know that baby was "ready" to come. I think it also helps as far as your let down reflex and such for your hormones because the normal process actually started.

Another question for STMs. I was planning on buying a nappy bin (Angelcare) at the end of the month, but then I read a blog article last night saying that it's a waste of money 'cause you'll just end up with a long smelly "sausage" of nappies and getting scented nappy bags and putting them in a bucket is a better option. Thoughts?
