Jan/Feb 2011 Mommies (Nov & Dec 2010 early babes)

Sorry i wasn't on yesterday, as you can see i was busy running around checking out schools for C and i have found a nice one and they offered him to start today so we decided to go for it!

I saw one that had a tiny classroom that honked of poo, it was disgusting i didn't want to breathe. I refuse to send my child there even if it was free.

The school he's at is R1280pm (it's the most expensive in the area and it is a catchment school for a brilliant primary school) which I didn't think was too bad? all food and snacks included, all activities included (friday they have a jumping castle day) they sent us home a booklet with menu's and timetables, yearly activity/event planner. They have decent wooden jungle gyms in the garden play areas. They have a TV room for when it's raining outside so in the 'free play' time they don't all get bored in the classroom and if you have to drop them off before class starts they can watch a movie while they wait for everyone to arrive.

His teacher phoned now to say he did cry when he realized we were gone but he's o.k now but he refused to eat lunch, but that can also be because they gave him Samp which he's never had before.

Carmen- Mishka is gorgeous! The best thing you can do for the rash is to leave it open and wash only with water as soaps or creams may aggrivate it. it will go but it is horrible to see on your baby's face. Jono still suffers

MommyN- try illiadin drops for Nathans nose, sorry the kids are on separate schedules, it's hectic!

i must be one very lucky mommy, but i actually think it's my stubbornness to stick to a plan that has worked, both tweenies sleep at the same times more or less, they feed at the same time and they still sleep up to 2hrs between feeds during the day. At night they are going from 8pm til 3 and then til about 6-7am.

Now C is at school i can use those 2hrs between feeds to actually get stuff done!

I think i must have won the GHD comp (thanks for your votes) but I'm awaiting confirmation from Admin, not sure how long it will take to get my prize but i hope it's soon i am super excited!

Sorry for MIA. Just busy busy busy! A baby and toddler is no joke and I think I might check into the looney bin soon!

Nathan is doing well, but I think he is going through a growth spurt (again) and it seems he feeds all day long. I have tried to give less colic mix, but he is so miserable, so I am still giving it. Once we get past the 7pm mark, he sleep through waking once or sometimes twice. He is awake by 5am and then Missy wakes up too. And the day begins again... she has got about 7 or 8 new teeth in the last while and the canine (I think its the canine ones - one on each side of the front 4) are there and look like white things in her gums. She is so miserable and just wants me. Daddy tried to take her last night to give me a break at 5pm but she wouldnt go. Their sleeping routines are so different, yesterday they were asleep together or 10 mins when Sarah woke up and then proceeded to go in and "kiss" her little brother awake.... argh!

I have been following everyone's posts in my inbox, but unfortunately not too much time now for personals. Mom is coming through and hopefully I will get 5 mins to have a bath or sit on the loo (alone) LOL

Vix - good luck for school with C! hope you get into a good routine and are able to spend good quality time with A & J as well as catch up with C after school. Is he going everyday and half or full day? I am sure it will all work out! He is going to love making friends, and then enjoy the time with his brothers more! He loves you more than you know!

Maryke - good luck for back to work too, hope A and L are getting back to their happy selves! Lucky for you to have the work set up where you can have babas close by until you think its the right time to send to a creche. How are things with Francis-Jane? The things they say, hope you get some quality time with her too!

Guys, Nathan had a bit of a blocked nose, I tried to "squirt" milk at his nose but it went everywhere!!!! He has also had a lot of gunge in his eyes and his skin by his chin and cheeks close to his ears is a bit "pimpley" - so at least the spray helped him! LOL, poor thing being sprayed by a moo cow!

I have tried EVERYTHING to get Nathan to take a dummy. Tried every dummy almost and even tried to give him his Sarah's dummy (which I didnt want to do - dont want Sarah to take his dummy). But he doesnt want it! He sometimes sucks his hand, not even the fingers, the side of his hand. And of course, he sucks Mommy's booby!

Vix - how was C's first day at creche?

Chris - I call Inge the "foxterrier" - she carries on like a little puppy - fighting with the dummy, fighting with the bottle, fighting with Mommy to sleep. This morning after drinking at 02:30 she thought it was play time - she gave the cutest smiles but I just ignored her - eventually I got back to bed at 04:00. She sometimes like the dummy but then there are other times that she refuse to take the dummy

Yvette - Inge sleeps in a camping cot - I do put a pillow behind her but what I have done now is I added a pillow in front of her with my nightie between her and the pillow. I pat her bum a bit and she has been sleeping for the last 45min.

Carmen - Mishka is soo cute. Like Yvette said it is baby acne

How are you all doing? I am officially back at work today. I am worried about my mom coping with both babies as she is still dealing with the loss of my granny.

carmen great to hear from you. glad all is well. about those littl epimples, it is called BABY ACNE and is just the hormonal changes in her body. do not worry about them they will go in a few days, just keep her face clean with water. really, its nothing to worry about.

keep going with the bf - it is so good for them. i love the pic you posted - she is a very pretty baby, congrats again friend. mishka is a lovely name too - good choice. the treehouse factory shop is great. i've bought curtains, carrycot, bedding for cot and bed, sheets, and now the bedrail from there over the last 2 years or so. the boys range now is awesome. i don;t find the furniture to be too cheap but the linen and accesories are excellent prices. did you buy from there?

AFM - Mishka's is 17 days old - generally a good baby - we've had a few sleep deprived nights - last night after I fed her at 7pm she kept rooting - until 2am - had no idea what to do, wasn't sure if she could still be hungry and that she didn't get enough milk. felt like milk ducts were blocked so though the milk wasn't flowing. Tonight we bathed and fed at 7:30pm - she is still sleeping, will have to wake her to feed by 11pm, Also got the honey dummy, just in case.
Having problems bf'ing as I have flat nipples, in the hospital they told me I had to use nipple shields, now she's used to it and I can't get her to feed without it.

I find that she breaks out in pimples, doesn't look like a heat rash, the sisters at the clinic merely say that it's their skin getting used to the elements, does anyone have advice on this?

maryke - glad the boys are better now - very scary. did they lose alot weight? ashley had gastro last year (but thinking now it may have been salmonella too). she didn;t go to hospital but lost a noticeable amount of weight. she was vomiting first for 2 days then the poo nappies for 5 days after that. shame she was very ill.

bought a treehouse bedrail today from the treehouse factory shop for R299. in the proper shop it costs R499 so i am quite chuffed. they had awesome boy stuff in there today.

chris - how did last night go with letting the trio sleep?

vix - how was C today? did he give his mommy some love?

ster - hows things? let us know what is going there with your sleep training ideas. just remember, it will take inge a few days to get used to new things and routines. keep strong my friend - it will come right sooner that you think.
