hi ladies

Ster I dont think you need to feel 'bad' about putting the sleep training on hold. I personally think Inge is still little for this and for me, I would imagine starting to sleep train probably around 4 months or so.

Chris - I feel like I have been pregnant forever. It really has been a very long pregnancy for me!!!!
Yip Ster - counting the days (28!!) although that means nothing for a natural birth. I will be gutted if he goes past his due date. I really don't want to wait longer than I have to!

Last week I really felt like something might be going on...but now the last few days I've felt nothing. sigh...

Sterretjie, I wanted to mention/ask, Alexia loooves her dummy, is Inge suckign a dummy? The sleep training book tells you to get rid of it, as much as I would love to, I just cant because it soothes one baby when I need to see to another, and her dummy is the biggest fault with her sleeping, she cries when it comes out her mouth, but once she is sleeping, she spits it out. Last night when it fell out after putting her with my top, I stood aside watching her and she did fall asleep again without it.

Hi Ladies,

Sleep training is on hold until further notice. Inge was crying for an hour last night at my second attempt and DH was so upset (he hates it when she cries). He also tried to put her to sleep and in the end nothing we did could settle her. Eventually she fell asleep on my chest and I woke up 2 hours later with a stiff neck. So DH said we should wait until she is a bit older and try again. Again this morning she is very "ma-vas" and if I dare put her down while she is asleep she wakes up crying. I am not rocking her anymore - just holding her in my arms and sitting quietly.

Chris, I keep on forgetting to put my top next to her - I did it a while ago to get her use to sleeping in her cot at night. I will wait a couple of days and then try again

Maryke - hope you are home by now with your boys. hope they are much better.

Vix - I agree with Chris - how do you do it?

Meags - I am sure you are counting the days now

to all the other ladies, hope you are all well

Hey ladies

Mina, I had to giggle a bit at your comment, lol, I tell everyone Alexia comes with a manual, stand up feed me, rock me, jump, sit, stand, hehe, ok, she isn't that bad but she has her days. After this morning feed she was wide awake and wouldn't sleep but complains so she was tired and dh couldn't put her back, now we have been naughty and I wont do it again, but when dh and I are alone we keep them in the tv room on their cushions and we also sleep in th eroom, now my problem with that is that is their day time sleep place, eventually I took, had to rock her a bit to settle her, took my top off and put it with her in her cot with the lullaby music on, and she feel asleep, woke up cos dummy was out, but I didn't stick it back in and she fell asleep again, so my babies aren't too bad, at night they're actually quite good.

Vix, I dont know how you do it with a toddler also

Maryke, so glad you are all on your way home!

Meags, 36 weeks, can you believe how fast the time has gone?

Hi to all the other ladies!! Hope you are all well!!

Ster- I agree with Mina, each to their own and if you think you can deal with rocking Inge to sleep (bear in mind it'll be that way til 9 months probably too) then do it. Do what makes you feel right.

For me there is so many more enjoyable moments than holding them as small babies, the times I treasure with my son are actually from the 6m mark when he would finally go to sleep on his own and sleep through, I couldn't bond with my boy when he was so demanding at first, I resented it.

Mina- thanks for your kind words. You know it's not actually that the twins are THAT difficult it's having the toddler thrown into the mix that makes it hard work and I'm sure you know all about that having 2 bigger kids aswell. The twins are actually very well behaved but I am sure it's because my parenting is different this time around.

I spoke to Maryke, she was on her way home with the boys today!

Mina I am going without meds.
My reasoning for it is that, for me, an epidural takes away my involvement in the process. Plus there is a 40% increased chance of a caesarean after having epidural and more chance of them needing to use a vacuum to assist baby out.
I was very open to using gas (Entenox) but they dont have that here!
I was also a little open to accepting Pethidine should the pain be too unbearable - but they are more pro epidural than IV meds as they feel it makes the babies too lethargic and therefore one has difficulty latching after the birth.

SO....I am saying that I am going natural...HOWEVER. I also dont want to hate my birth experience because it was so excruciatingly painful so if I really feel like I just cannot cope, i will ask for something.

I want to start with the evening primrose capsules after seeing the midwife on Tuesday. I know it takes long to have effects and that's why it's recommend from 36 weeks. But a part of me is saying to rather wait until DH comes back from Germany before trying anything to help bring on labour/soften cervix/help contractions.

Ster - Don't feel guilty. I always say that everything is different for everyone. Unfortunatly our babas don't come with a manuel saying how to handle them. It is just mothers instict that kicks in. I think that is whats so great about being a mom. As you say you must remember to enjoy this time. Every age and stage brings its own "hassels"

Vix - I am so proud of you. Coping this time with twins and a 2year old without any help...... I take my hat of for you. Glad you don't need the iron anymore.

Chris - How is the babies noses, still blocked? Did you give them the Prevenar injection also?

Meags - are you having a natural birth with or without meds? I used the evening primrose capsules and it really helped softening my cervix.

Till later
