Be warned, I think this is long... :silly: :woohoo: :side:  B)

Hi Mums

I am typing in my email programme, and hopefully wont lose any posts! Urgh! Does any one else battle with internet and their computers? Urgh!!!

Anyway, I hope I can remember what everyone has said! I am still suffering from porridge brain after 2 pregnancies. I doubt a boss would put up with me right now! DH says he thinks there is something wrong with me, I thought he was joking, but he has brought it up a few times. He says he is dead serious, I am just so "loskop" lately. Feel like I am slowly losing the plot!

I started Nathan on rice cereal, took the Cerelac because it already has milk added and I am in no way going to express breast milk for meals! You must be joking! But he is not really enjoying it. I remember Sarah being the same, and after a week or two, I stopped with her and tried again 2 weeks later. To today, she doesn't like cereals, I only gave cereal for the first few weeks, month tops. Maybe Nathan is the same - the cereal is pretty awful tasting! His tummy seems ok, difficult to say. He still moans a lot. So I dont know! I made some butternut today and gave him that, he wasnt super excited. Maybe its just too early? He'll be 6 months on 2 June. What does everyone else think? Sarah I first started at 5 and a half weeks, and then fully from 6 or 6 and a half months. Maybe he is just the same, and being 7 weeks prem, I guess there is no rush. Sarah is an excellent eater today.

Someone (sorry cant look back now) mentioned about not giving cereal and rather giving fruit. I also remember being told pears is better than apples. In fact, I am "allergic" to apples. Not medically proved, but anything with apples gives me serious migraines. Took us years to figure out and my parents had me at a lot of Dr's for the migraines and headache/sinus problems as a youngster. I know they have spoken about it on the radio, apparently apple can also cause psoriasis (sorry spelling?). I dont know if there is any truth in it. Just my opinion. Also, I feel you give a bit of apple after an upset tummy, so it may constipate. But yip, its all old wives tales, the last clinic sister told me banana's are fine to give to my Sarah at night, and my Mom always said no bananas at night else you'll have a sore tummy!

So if I am giving butternut, how much do I give? I cant remember what I did with Sarah and haven't had a chance to look it up. I blended it all up really smooth this time, but each time I hope I can make it more coarse. We'll see. Sarah was into huge chunks and eating herself by 8 months - it was so much easier!

Chris, keep meaning to tell you, if you like you are more than welcome to carry on the list! I have totally lost track of it! We need to get all the newbie's dates! Ho is your working at home going? Oh yes, what happened with the maid???? I see you tackled grocery shopping. I am sure everything will get easier soon! And I was thinking, the next time someone asks you how you got trips, say something like 3 times in one night, each time in a different position and each time in a different room! People!!! I guess Sunday afternoons are quiet at the grocery shops, but I dont know if that's good or bad. Its not forever anyway. The trio is looking beautiful!

Maryke, so exciting for the boys to be cast free! Pics please!!! You will have days where you miss your dad especially much, I am sure Chris will agree, but there are also times where you just remember the good times and can think of good times without thinking of your sadness. Strongs to you all!

Vix, glad C is better! Touchwood, we haven't had a tummy bug yet - I know it will come. Sarah has in fact only vomited once in total - she hardly even burped or anything as a baby. Nathan is a lot more sensitive, so I can see things are going to be different! Hope C enjoys his day at school and is totally better! Hope you have also enjoyed your day!!! I keep meaning to ask you, when you give Gaviscon, how much do you give? And when? Before milk? After? Before or after meals? Etc.

Nathan has had a nap this morning for 90 mins! First time ever! But he has a stuffy nose, and I think he might be catching a cold. Sarah has had a cold (her first real snotty nose cold in fact), so I really hope we dont have to give the paed a visit. Just dosing at home. But Murphy's Law, Nathan napped this morning while Sarah was still sleeping (I only got her to sleep at 11pm last night Urgh!!!) But I was too scared to get back into bed in case she woke up, and somehow they both slept! Dont ask me what I did, because I didnt get anything done for myself! have just got used to doing things with one or two kids in my arms!

Yesterday and today have seemed nice and sunny here in Pretoria, but I know the cold is on its way URGH! I dont mind the cold, but the dryness! There is dust everywhere! We got Sarah an econo-heater for her room, and although it doesn't make the room hot (good thing) it seems to take the chill off. Will see how it works out this week if it gets colder. Does anyone else use them? They say they are economical.

Chan, sorry you are still suffering with Kade. I dont even know what to say. Have you tried Rescue drops? Like every hour for the first day and then cutting back. In my opinion, I would definitely get the script that the Dr gave you. You are just going around in circles. I had to sleep train Sarah at about 9 months, and I had always said I would never let her cry it out, or medicate her or this or that. But eventually we were all getting really frustrated. I have considered trying to get something for Nathan, but he does in fact sleep well during the night, its just in the day he doesn't sleep! I cant be ungrateful. Good luck friend!!!

Lizelle, saw Kayden is taking the Avant bottle now! Yay! Good luck for back to work!

Suriya, hope you are having a good day at work. By the way, there is a little Pretoria meet at Jingle Jangle this saturday if you are interested?

Vix, I might pop in to see you and Maryke on Sunday 5th. Be nice to nice to meet Maryke's boys. But will have to see closer to the time and how DH is. If there is a grand prix on then no problem!

Sterretjie, how is Inge doing? All better? I hope the ears have got better!!!

Dassie, is the losec helping for your LB? Its helping for Nathan, well he is lot happier most of the time anyway. How much losec do you give? I am bad with tummy time, keep forgetting! But Nathan sleeps on his tummy so that helps.

Is it just me or 2nd time around you forget so much more, or is it you are not worried about things. Vix, you said it right last week, just let babies be babies!!!

Meags, how is everything in Miami? Hope Matt is behaving. Have you stopped expressing yet? How is Matt generally? How long are you in France before SA?

Binks, how is Vanya?

Mandz, Jordyn is a real cutie!!! I dont know why I think he is advanced, I guess being a bigger boy he is stronger, and he looks like he is doing well. He looks at the camera and seems to take everything in. Regarding finger food, I started Sarah pretty soon after she started solids, cant say exactly when, but a chip in a restaurant would keep her quiet and she would suck on a carrot or piece of cucumber. Yes a chip, we all say we are going organic and nothing bad, well I said it, but you kind of give in. Anyway, a diet coke cancels a slice of cake, right?

Miksmommy, how is your dad?

Suhaila, how was the wedding?

Oh yes, Maryke you asked about nick names, my mom started calling my 2 "The Tweets" and now its stuck. Sarah I have called Missy from about 7 months old. She is a real little madam or "Missy". But I cant get something for Nathan. I never had a real nick name, so I want to give my kids nicknames. I have tried Sunny/Sony Boy for Nathan, Pops, Bud or Buddy but nothing sticks. It will come one day!

Ok, I think I have written a blog by now! LOL. And I know I am going to jinx it, but Nathan has just had his 2nd 90 minute nap for the day! WHOOOOOOOHOOOOO!!! Both kids have been sleeping! I have been Moomie'ing and now feel like a nap but its too late! Last nap was day before Nathan was born, 1 December! Shjoeeeee!!!

Ok, will try keep up to date!

have a great week all!

Chan - Hi! Glad I'm not the only one with a big baby hehe... Don't know if this is an old wives tale, but my mom said when I start solids later I must give pear instead of apple, because apple will upset Z's tummy. When did you start solids with your big boy?

Hi everyone.

Hope you had a good weekend. The weather in Cpt is terrible today, so glad I'm indoors with my boy.

Mandz - Hope is J's tummy now? Thanks for the advice.

Suhaila - Thanks for the welcome!

Maryke - Hello! Well the first 4 months have been hectic but great. The first 6 weeks was the worst because I was still in a lot of pain after labour and episotiomy. It's a huge adjustment to become a mom for the first time, but I love being a mom.

Z is going for his injections tomorrow. He usually gets a fever for 2 days after, so not looking forward to it. Going to discuss solids with the nurse and get some more info on that.

Morning!

Gosh what a bad night with Kade. ARGH i'm so freaking tired of this now. Got him down at 8:30 and he was awake again at 10. He cried and moaned with tummy ache and cramps until 2am. Then slept until 3:30 and cried and moaned until we all got up at 6. So i've basically had an hour and a half sleep. The only thing we did diffrently yesterday is give him Olli apple to eat instead of the Woolies fresh apple and pear food that they make. Could it have caused such havoc to his tummy again?

It's really driving me cuckoo! He can't eat cereal at all because it constipates him and gives him shocking cramps that he doesn't sleep a wink at night. He can't eat in the evenings because then he dies with cramps all night. So the only thing that I can do it the fresh fruit in the mornings - which he totally loves and he scoffs it down.

I swear if it were possible to have a stomach transplant his name would have been on the list yonks ago! Hehehe!

Our paed suggested giving Kade Oral PreMed to break his pattern at night for 10 nights. Says it's the only thing left to try because colic is actually a behaviour and we need to change that behaviour. Would you guys do it? I've had the script for a week now and havent gone to fetch it. I'm so nervous for some reason. I remember with Kyra I had to give her Vallergan to break her sleeping habits and it worked like a charm.

Vix glad C is doing better. Shame vomiting and fever are terrible when they're small. Glad the twins are doing so well! Kade is also moving around the house in his walking ring now. Thanks goodness - it at least gives you a few minutes to make bottles / a cup of coffee etc!

Maryke please post before and after pics! I'm so glad their casts are off! Our nickname for Kade is Pumba! He's so chubby! 10.5kg's at 5 months!

My DH is also keen to see a urologist. Kade's put him off babies for life!

Welcome Dassie! I know all about having a big boy! Kade doesn't fit into a Bumbo either and he's wearing 9-12months clothes from Edgars already!

Mandz no I haven't changed Kade over yet as he isn't 6 months yet. It might be more iron in the formula because that's what causes the constipation. We've tried 7 different formula's for Kade's tummy so I know all about constipation. It's really horrible to deal with.

Hope you all have a great day! And I pray I get a little more that an hour and a half sleep tonight!
