Glad you feeling better Vix, one good thing aaving multiples is that (so far :) ) there are 3 of us, which I think is going to be nice for us ladies to compare notes. Vis, your babies will be born at a healthy weight.

As for the tummy... my first pg, only 8 weeks and I have a tummy already!! I am especially stressing about that (lol), somehow, when you are pg with 1 baby, you cant wait to show your preggy belly, when you are pregnant with 3, well, you dont want to show your belly cos you know the sooner you show it the bigger it will be!! Some people are shocked to see my tummy, there eyes go big, lol. its not HUGE, but you would say I am about 14 weeks (if I compare). One thing about being pg with trips is the expression on ppls faces when we tell them, it is so funny!

Yvette, almost there til your scan, hang in there!

Kimika, thx for your words too, please stay here while you can! ;)

Chan- I'm so pleased everything went well with the assesment scan, you must feel so relieved! You're going to have a real healthy baby!

Yvette: mmmm honestly I feel only half the symptoms this time compared to my first pregnancy, MS has been less, less tired but more cramps than I can remember. My belly is bigger by far but I expected that with a second pregnancy.

3 generations back on my mothers side. Fraternal twins are usually common only on the woman's side because you release 2 eggs in 1 month, it can be caused by fertility drugs, older maternal age and a genetic reoccurance. I'm only 27 but it could easily have been a combination of age and genetics. Twins on the fathers side will not continue the pattern in the mother and nor so will it be if twins were on your fathers side, the gene is a womans thing carried by the women. Identical twins is a 'freak' of nature for lack of a better phrase, it's 1 egg fertalised by 1 sperm but the cells 'split' and creat an exact replica of themselves.

I wasn't on any fertility treatment, not even multi vits or. Preg meds nothing at all except folic acid which won't affect ovulation. It just happened to be for me. Oddly I also only got a + HPT on 15DPO whereas with C it was instant at 14DPO very very surprised.

We did only hear 1 heartbeat at 7w but one baby is a week behind the other so it's possible only one had staryted beating. On the 1st scan we saw the peanut and then what looked like a huge yolk sac but behind it.

Chris- wow what lovely words thank you. I think I would've been more excited about multiples if it was my 1st pregnancy but having been through a healthy birth and healthy baby and feeling how emotional that is I already feel some of the fear like the twins were here already. Sometimes I think ignorance is bliss, the first time I didn't know as much as I do now!

Meags- thanks for your support, actually I think Private hospitals keep babies in NICU for a bit longer than 1.8kg, I have heard 2kg from one lady but also that even a healthy weight twin will most likely get some time in NICU, but having a Ci4ec I will also be booked in for 3 nights. What's the worst with a C-sec is you have to lay for 12hrs after the op and if the babies are in NICU they can't bring them to the mother. But I will be determined to go as far as possible and have big birth weight babies, I'm going to do tons of research!

hi vix - just a few questions about your surprise twinnies...
are you feeling any worse than being preg with just one tot?
do you have twins in your family?
did you have any fertility treatment that could'
ve boosted your chances for a multiple pregnancy?

reason i'm asking is because in the vry first scan i had at 3.5 weeks i distinctly saw 2 sacs, so did the radiologist. at the next scan at 6 weeks, there was only one. like with you, your baby #2 was hiding...
remember my hcg levels being so high? my gynae actually commented on that ad said that i should be prepared for the possibilty of twins, then we scanned and he only saw one heartbeat and one sac.
my MS is actually at its worst now. i have been literally projectile vomiting. any smells turn my tummy inside out. cravings are insane,. i didn;t have anything remotely as bad as this with my last 2 pregnancies :)

ayway, i'm going for my 12 week scan on monday 5th july, so we'll know then for sure. not too keen on having twins... because i'll have 4 kids and 3 under 17 months:)

Vix, happy that your feeling better. Im sure I wouldve felt exactly the same as you do :) I would love to have twins but then I would only be able to cope once they are about 3 yrs old :) hehe.. I can imagine how you feel about the whole premature and breastfeeding issues. But at least you know your first pregnancy was without issues so your chances of going the same route are very good! As for breastfeeding ... phew!!! Good luck! ;) Jokes aside :) I know of a few ladies who breastfed 2 babys, daunting yes, possible yes! You will cope and be a great mommy to two babies :) (Ok this all counts for Chris too! xxx)

Ok on the other hand.. Ive recalculated my possible edd, and its the 2nd March. Now my problem is that Im a borderline March mommy. So I would love to join the Feb thread but you girls are just so far ahead.. so I will wait for a bit later in the month and will create/join a Feb/March 2011 groupie. And then Ill keep popping in here to say hi!

Vix, congratulations, I had to giggle a bit when I heard about your twins as you had said no more after this one, it just goes to show that nothing is in our hands.

Since I found out about the trio I have had maybe 1 or 2 nights descent rest, but think its been the flu too.

I can really relate to how you are feeling, please dont stress about twins being in NICU, there is a great chance that they wont be, a friend of a friend recently had her twins, both were over 3kg's each!! So the possibilty of them being full term and very healthy is very high, dont stress!! And she is the second one I have heard recently of twin babies being born with good weights.

If you want, I am going to go to a gynae in Sandton, he specialises in multiple births (unless stated otherwise by my fs), but give me a shout if you want his number. Sandton is a bit far, but your whole mindset changes when you are aware of more than 1 baby growing tummy. You will do just fine, you have experienced joy with a singleton and you get to experience joy with twins.

Now as for not being able to connect, it is very difficult, I stil have not, between being sick and stressed and paranoid all at once, I have not been able to enjoy the pregnancy yet which i think is the problem, still trying to get to grips with having trips, and part of me doesn't connect because of me being worried something happens.

All in all, you will be fine, you will be a great mom and lil' Christoper will be a great big brother. You will find the utmost joy and we are all here when babies are born to pull you through any emotions and feelings you have!

 Between 3 of we are having 7 kids!!

Chan, so glad your baby is doing well and growing so nicely, hope you wont stress to much now!

Welcome new mommies! Wishing you all a healthy and happy pregnancy!

I am so glad we are on our way to summer!

So are we still up for coffee 31st Jul?

Sorry for such a long post! ist been a while since Iv been on ;)
