MsDee, you are in no way a traitor. you are PAYING the gynae to let you know the well-being of your child!!!!

at my 6 week scan (with 1st baby and after having severe cramping for 2 weeks and being on Progesterone) my gynae didnt allow hubby into the room until she found the baby. she then called him in and said 'there's the baby. ok there's the heartbeat' and removed the sonar probe and walked out.

I was like "what the hell???!!!!!"
I in no way felt bad about moving to another gynae!!!! I expected to cry and be emotional etc etc but instead I just sat there so confused and thinking "ok was that it???"

each scan should be special, as they go so quickly and before you know it, baby will be here. so you definitely need a gynae who will take their time with you (regardless of how late they are running), explain each and every finding to you.

Esmari, Solo, Meags, Karienh, Philipajane, AHA & anyone i might have left out. Thank you all for taking the to address my concerns. I have decided to find another gynae. I feel bad & my partner might not understand but I have a right to know what is happening with my body & my child. "The baby is fine" just isn't good enough for me.

@Solo, they took my bloods for the DS test yesterday. I'm 30 so there's some risk but I just thought of it as better to be informed. At this point I can't even think about terminating for any reason. But I would like to know. As for feeling like you're losing control of your body, I hear you. Everyone seems to "know better". LOL!

Congrats to everyone whose scans went well & those doing them today good luck & please let us know how it goes.

MsDee I'm seriously wondering if we saw the same Dr!! I had a similar experience with my first appointment with my gynae yesterday evening. I had to drag info out of him, and I just felt that he wanted me out so he could get his next patient in. As it was he was seeing two women at a time and was running 45 mins late.

I did hear and see my baba's heartbeat (if only for a few secs)!!! That was incredible. I kept on thinking that this heartbeat coming from me wasn't mine - I have a little miracle happening inside of me!!! What a WOW moment

MsDee I just wanted to say that it's not abnormal for your gynae to only see you next at 20/22 weeks. Some gynaes only do the major check ups.
HOWEVER...if you are not happy with that decision and you feel you don't connect with him, change gynae's now. Ask the receptionist for all your records (blood results, DS test results etc) and say you are moving to a gynae closer by, or you're moving towns or WHATEVER! That's what I did Other gynae's do a check up every 4 weeks which I like because I am so nosey to see how baby is growing.

Karienh, I think you read wrong. Its MsDee who had her scan and bad doc......

Esmari, I'm glad you got to see your baby! And so sorry about your dr. It's still so early in your pregnancy and I would certainly change doctors now. There's no reason to stay somewhere you're not happy. Our dr is so sweet and really looks like he actually enjoys showing us our baby and he's so positive about everything. I love that.

PhillipaJane, I'm glad it went well and hope you can take some time off over the weekend to recharge.
