Just an update - went for my 32week scan today at the gynae and Mia is doing well - big and healthy, she weighs 2.3kg's now...had to go for the normal blood tests to check for any anti-bodies (i'm ABrh-) so the gynae monitors that...so ya, was feeling gr8 up until the point that we were about to leave and the receptionist called me to remind me about the R1600 gynae fee which needs to be paid upfront b4 the delivery date..i wasn't worried about that as we are on a 200% plan which covers everything and also covered everything last year when we had our first born..nope she tells me, they have had claims come back that are on the same 200% plan where our medical aid didn't cover the whole bill...so I rush to get back to work and call the medical aid immediatly and explain the whole tutti frutti to them and they inform me they do cover 200% of specialists fees HOWEVER only if the specialist charges medical aid scheme rates...i call my gynae's receptionist back and she informs me that they charge 46% over the m/a rate which explains *(why everything is not covered)..so i want to know why then was everything paid last year and now all of a sudden we having to pay this cost..well its because they increased their tariffs in feb so that's why it differs from last yr..
So i'm thinking, wtf!! Who just has R1600 lying around??.. and we have to make a plan to have this paid off b4 i'm 36 weeks..if we had know sooner we could have paid it off in instalments like all the other ladies do, instead of leaving it for the last...and why did we bother switching to a higher cover with the m/a so that we can have 200% just to at the end still pay costs out of our pocket!!
So ya, my good day turned sour very quickly
