Doesn't the hospital provide blankets and towels while you are there? Less washing for you when you get home than if you use theirs ;) I seriously need to go Pj shopping! Nothing fits me anymore :P

Ankia - Yes, the powder I'm talking about it that wecessin powder. Weleda no longer brings it into the country so Herbaforce now makes it and it has some funny name...wet and dry graze powder or something like that. Are you happy with your Maclaren? Seems like a pretty good buy to me - I'm not prepared to pay some crazy price for a pram/stroller. Will go check out Reggies sometime soon :)

thanx Laliek.

Amazing, my list is almost completely diff from yours.

For baba its :
4-6 sets of clothes
aques(sp?) cream
bum cream
baby shampoo
telament drops
mittens (no mention of beanie)
vests
cotton wool
surgical spirit
dummy & dummy container
40 disposable nappies
baby wipes
Expirator & something else (forgot what its called, its like lip-ice to help baba breath if he struggles, applied on top of upper lip)

Fo mommy :
toiletries
maternity pads
nipple cream
pen & paper
linen savers

no mention of blankets or towels. Logic told me to buy anyway.

Hapi I also didn't find any info beforehand on goodie bags at Life - I only found out Thursday they give you one.

On the list they have that's in the gift bag is:

Nappies
Maternity pads
Surgical spirits
Cotton wool
Baby shampoo * 2 (full body wash and J&J baby shampoo)
500ml of Bennet's acques cream
250ml J&J acques cream
Teddy Bear
Baby grow
Bennet's bum cream

They ask you to bring extra maternity pads and disposable panties and then your toiletries + they just put clothes for ceaser for 4 days, 3 nights. I'm just going to pack 3 pairs of pj's as I honestly don't think you'll have time to change twice a day + an extra pair is for when an accident happens or something and you leak a bit then you have extra set to change. For the discharge day I'm going to take comfy clothes as I'm not sure how sensitive my c-section scar will be!

Then for baba you bring:

2x receiving blankets
1x warm blanket
Clothes for 3 nights and 4 days
Pacifier
Extra nappies
Beanies
Mittens
Towels for bathing for both you and baba

Bring a black bag for dirty clothes!

And that was it. Bargain on 4 days, 3 nights - it's highly unlikely they'll discharge you with a c-section before that!

hope Candi is coming alright.

Laliek, so glad you enjoyed your baby shower. I havent gone on the mat ward tour yet, when I went to go book my hospital bed the midwife said to come rather mid July as they are renovating the mat ward at Wilgeheuwel. Lucky you, it seems as if Wilgehuwel does not give a goodie bag, I could be wrong but there is no mention of same in all their books that I have been reading. I have been told that you dont get much at Life Hospitals, compared to Netcare... not sure how true that is.

Skai, your baby shower is on the 10th of July, OMW. They are keeping mine a secret- so annoying as I want to be done with all the buying and finalise the room. I also did a walk-about at Baby City with a friend as DH was not particularly keen.

Quick Question, how many pairs of PJ's to take at hospital? if all goes well we will be in hospital for 3 days (2 nights). do I take 2 a day, one for during the day and one for sleeping ?

Skai, I found my Maclaren Stroler at Reggies - hehe

I use the Wesconsin Powder (Spelling) for the umbilical cord, they say it works faster

such a cute pic ankia! Glad you are feeling better today. I can also definitely tell when I've over done it - get more Braxton Hicks than usual...

BoB - hope you get to go home today! Keep us updated...

Candi - sorry to hear you are in such pain! I hope they figure out what is causing it and it's not anything that will affect Z.

Hapi - you sound so sorted! :) I'm not going to be using Surgical Spirits - rather Herbaforce Wet and Dry Graze Powder (or some similar name...). It is a natural powder that apparently works quicker than surgical spirits and also isn't cold so baby's don't mind it as much. You can get it at Baby City.

Laliek - glad you enjoyed your baby shower! And sound like you are also all sorted now with the nursery etc :)

Afm - can go and collect my cot this week sometime. Not even sure what it looks like but thinks it's a sleigh cot :) My friend lent it to someone who just went ahead and gave it away when she was done with it! Was meant to go back to my friend. So, this other woman had to buy another one to replace it....hence I have no idea what it looks like. Can't wait to get it back to our place and set it up! :silly:

I also went to Baby City with my mom on Saturday to look at what is going to go on the gift registry. She's going overseas in a few days so wanted her input before she leaves....don't think my DH would particularly enjoy spending ages in Baby City deciding on what to put on the list so at least now when we go to set it up it'll go much quicker ;) Baby shower being held on 10th Juy so can only set up registry 3 weeks before that.

Advice needed - (ankia - hoping you might know) - does anyone know where you can get the Maclaren Quest stroller from? Baby City only had one Maclaren stroller and wasn't that one... Must still look at Reggies and Toys 'R us. Any other places that stock lots of strollers etc?

Hope you all have a lovely day!

Hi there ladies

Hope everyone is doing well?

Ankia - thanks for attending on Saturday - we've chatted for almost 2 years and it was great meeting you finally! You really are a glowing preggie fairy and look great!

Hapi - ah that's very sweet of you for wanting to do that thanks very much! Luckily I was very spoiled at my babyshower on Saturday and we went yesterday to clear out the box at Baby City so I now have everything I need! Really am blessed!

BoB - I hope you'll get discharged today but please please please stay on bedrest!! You and your lb are the most important right now!

Candi - how are you doing hun? Are you ok? I hope it's nothing serious?

Skai - yip we got a nice fright on Thursday, it wasn't contractions luckily nor was it braxton hicks. I think it may have been that I was just too busy last week (and I did pick up audit files and was running up and down stairs at the client) so I may have just pushed my luck a bit and paid the price for it!

AFM: Had a really nice babyshower on Saturday. Very lucky to have had so many people share it with me and I got some amazing gifts! After my "ordeal" on Thursday I stayed flat in bed on Friday and was fine by Saturday but I must say I was adventurous again and was picking up babies on Saturday and up and down and by Saturday night I could feel my back was killing me!! Luckily my DH made me sit on my butt and had the hot water bottle tied to my back!

Yesterday we bought the rest of the stuff we need and now we're done. DH put up shelves in the baby room, I washed clothes and hanged them and now it's just sorting out stuff that's still in packaging that I need to unpack - but I'll do it this weekend. My mom is coming to help me this weekend and we're also going to be making bulk soup and dinners that can be frozen so DH and I won't have to worry about dinners when Cameron is here - going to make some lasagne and macaroni and cheese and cottage pies etc.

I'll log in again a bit later!

Oh Hapi - your not the only one freaking out lol! My hospital bag is kind of ready - have you done your maternity ward tour yet? I got a list from Fourways Life on Thursday actually and they do give gift bags that has most of the stuff in and they'll give you a list of what you need to bring! I'm so glad because I was panicking I'm going to end up with two suitcases packed for hospital lol!
