Advice re amniocentesis

Tanasha, have you got the results of your amnio yet or when are you expecting to receive it?

My little boy has a cleft pallet but because of his syndrome we have chosen not to go ahead and operate - basically because we have decided on comfort care and because his little heart wont stand the anaesthetic for that long a period.

When he was born we did go to the cleft palet clinic in Pretoria and they really are fantastic, they made a little plate for him so that he could drink from a bottle, but with the syndrome his mouth is so little that we could not fit the plate and the teat in his mouth, it was either or. But in any event, my point is, they easily fix this (at no cost I might add) and I promise you your baby will be perfect. I will keep you in my prayers. Stay positive, everything will be ok

Had the amnio and it wasnt too bad.

I 1st had a scan and everything looks perfect except for the cleft lip on the left side. They could not see if it was the palate aswell though.

When they showed me the needle for the amnio i threw up! But then i just closed my eyes and I didnt feel anything. It was over very quickly.

We get the results on Thursday, so now the waiting starts...

Solo this is quite funny that you use whale, because that is what my sister called me. I complained tom y gynea about the swelling and he just laughed . He said it is part of being pregnant

TaNasha sorry to hear about your baby. It can be fixed - the cleft lip - just hope that there is not more problems. Please let us know how it went.

Schatsie I am only 24 but they saw that my baby has a cleft lip and maybe palate, and said their is an increased risk for a chromosone abnormality.

Dont think I will be able to sleep tonight. Will let you all know how it goes.
