Clueless, so glad you had such an easy experience. I know as a first time mommy the hardest part is not knowing what to expect, which causes so much stress and anxiety. But I just keep reminding myself that millions of women have done this….so can I! Look after yourself and precious baby Isla!

wow Clueless it sounds so quik and easy, nothing scary at all. I am really jealous that you hav your baby now.

So yesterday i went for the 4D scan and hai to me all babies look alike on that scan, same nose and all. I took yall ladies' advice had lunch, drank coke, had chocolate and a lolly pop to ensure thata baby is active. And oh boy he was so active, i swear he hardly slept for three hours straight. I have attached the pics, its always reassuring to see baby smile, rub his eye, move around coz then you knw all is well. What concerned me though was that alot of the umbilical cord was under his left arm and i woudnt want that to like wrap around his arm coz then we will hav problems. i once read that a baby's arm came out broken by the cord.

Thank you clueless for the information now I know how it's going to feel. Not bad as thought.
You really have eased my worries. I better get my baby bag ready by weekend.

So... After I was properly numb up till just under my boobs (takes about 10mins), they put up a privacy screen, and did the dressings and put the catheter in. Oh, I forgot, the midwife assisting did ask if I had a birth plan (that was before we went into theater) but we said 'Just get her out safely and quickly'. So after dressings my gynae and his partner came in (they always work together, one assisting) and proceeded to do just that, get her out safely and quickly. I really didn't feel anything bad or uncomfortable, and it was all over in about 5mins. The last part where they got her head out, I did feel a bit of a push against my shoulders and a bit of a pull. Hubby has pics of it all, he thinks the whole procedure was awesome. Dr explained everything to him as they did it, when he saw hubby was interested. Then I heard my baby cry for the first time , they quickly cleaned and wrapped her and handed her back to me. After that I couldn't care less about them stitching me up, I was too absorbed in my LG. There was some pulling and pushing, but nothing uncomfortable or painful.

And that was it! Very simple and straight forward. As soon as we were back in the ward, they opened my shirt and put her on my chest for skin-to-skin contact and to feed, and she helped me with breastfeeding technique.

As for the pain, its really not as bad as I imagined. With the meds, its about a cross between moderate period pain and the day after overdoing it at the gym on ab circuit. Moving, getting up etc is difficult and requires some getting used to, but the belly band helps A LOT!
