file Feeling alone in my pregnancy

Hi Liefie.

Hear, hear. I also feel that maybe avoiding social gatherings will be better on the one hand but on the other, I am not sure if its the best for friendships to isolate oneself. Hmmmm- it is a tough one.

Glad I am not alone though.

Do you know of any Moomie get-togethers in PTA East?

Thanks

Hi there

I am part of the December group (due date 12 Dec) and I posted a similar entry to yours about week or two ago. I also have a lovely hubby and I too felt unappreciated and lonely...

I am same age as you - and at the moment I am avoiding social gatherings which I know is wrong but I just feel left out being the sober one. I also feel over emotional anything can make me cry or put me in a rant!

To be honest I don't have any advice but I can tell you, you are not alone and that I sometimes feel like that too. I don't think it's our loved ones though I do believe it is our hormones bouncing about most of the times.

Once baby is here I am know we will be our old self! :)

Hi Momarend,

I am 37 and had my little girl in January. Even though we're older, we faced the same from our friends. It takes a while getting used to but you'll see, it works itself out. Your real friends are also the ones that visit you after the birth and that understands that you cannot party untill 2am because your LO is now your first priority.

Wrt your husband, I read somewhere, and also saw it first hand that for us it is an immediate bonding because the miracle takes place in our bodies. We have an immediate emotional bond with our little ones. We can also later on feel them moving the whole time. All of this contribute to making it more "real" for us. For our husbands, our babies are abstract concepts that they can't really bond with because there's nothing there to "hold on" to. They are excited at the prospect, and supports you wholeheartedly but you will also find that if you talk about your baby, your hubby will most likely picture a toddler. You will however see, or rather, in my case it was like this, my husband fell head over heals in love with our girl at birth and she's been his everything since then.

As long as he supports you and rubs your back and pretends to understand when you feel tired or you can only eat things containing ginger, whilst still making you feel like the most gorgeous woman on earth, that's enough for now.

I hope you have a smooth and easy pregnancy!

Hi Moms2Be and all new and first time moms.

I was wondering if any of you feel alone in your pregnancy's? I have a lovely husband, but at the end of the day all the changes are happening to my body and sometimes I just feel like his life is carrying on as usual. I don't think reality has hit him yet as our baby hasn't arrived yet???

It is also the year where all of our friends are turning 30, including myself. It's really difficult to relate to others and vice versa when you are the only one who is sober, cant dance like a crazy person and also has to avoid being around smokers.

I am scared once my baby is here, I will have even less in common with most of my friends as they are not in the same life stage as us. At least some of my friends are already married and couple of them are having kids, but most of those on my husband's side are not even in long-term relationships yet. I fear they won't be understanding and will put my hubby in a tight spot.

With raising this topic, I was hoping there are other moms on here feeling the same thing and would like to meet face to face for some moral support and get to know new friends who are in the same life phase as you? I live in Pretoria East (Rietvalleirand) and would love to connect.

xoxo
