Hi Antz08

Nope, Centurion Mommy here ;), technically very much from PTA...
I am not a part of the pregnant ladies on the forum that is feeling isolated at the moment, I also commented but waaaaaay in the beginning to add a bit of perspective in terms of who your real friends are and how they will be there after the birth. (I thought it would help to know that the feeling of isolation is just because it is a change but everything works itself out in the end)

Anyways, just wanted to point out, very much tongue in cheek that I'm very much a Pretoria Girl.

AFM: My two cents worth - just int he same vein as there is a feeling of isololation because of the change in your social scenery, for us (Antz08 and Me - as mommies who've been through this) we've also experienced that, but in different ways. Remember, we're all mommies here and we're all passionate about what is currently happening to us (being it us being pregnant or us being blessed everyday by our stunning kids). We are going to react emotionally to things.

We need to start taking a collective deep breath and realise that support and chatting comes in all kinds of forms.

Love to you all!

And an exception you may take by all means - you have every right too... That is what this forum is for...

Such a pity, as i am the only one that commented here from PTA...

Hi Antz08.

I do unfortunately take your rant with exception as I do feel this forum should be a safe haven for us all to share our experiences, no matter how different they are, without judgement or guilt. Each of us has a unique experience and all have our crosses to bare. We should not be ashamed of anything we feel or go through nor should we project our realities on to others as they are simply experiencing something different. Pregnant or not!

I'm sure I speak for all the moomies on this thread that not for one second are any of us not greatful for our babies. I personally cannot wait for him to be in my arms in 5 weeks time, we were simply sharing how we were feeling in a social setting. I started the thread so that I CAN find new friends and adapt, unfortunately none of them so far are in PTA??

I know I will always have my true friends, but not everyone can relate to what each of us is experiencing, just like you found it hard to do so. I still attend my friends parties, but can only dance for so long, will not allow harm to my baby with 2nd-hand smoke and intoxicated people are far less aware of a large belly around them. I also initiate more chilled gatherings like braais and brunches as to ensure I am also making effort from my side too. For me all the sacrifices are all worth it, because I know what a beautiful gift I am getting in return, but for someone who is usually very social, the adjustments are just sometimes challenging.

I trust this provides enough perspective on where I am coming from now ;)

KR,
Your fellow Moomie
xoxo

Wow Antz08, I think you are taking this post a little personally? You don't know what any of has have experienced trying to conceive or just health-wise or in life. One thing I have learned along the way is everyone has hardships and a story to tell. Even if you don't think those hardships are equal to your hardships, it doesn't stop people from feeling sad or down, especially with raging pregnancy hormones.

I think we are all very grateful and happy to be pregnant so I don’t get where you are going with this. All she said is she is feeling a little alone and scared in this pregnancy, this is a totally normal feeling and hardly a full page of complaining, I really don’t understand your reply at all?

Edited to add: sorry I just saw your second message and apology. I think maybe the original message was just taken out of context. I think you are very lucky to have had friends to go though your pregnancies with you, and I think we are just saying that is what we are missing too. Anyway you are right, we will meet mommy friends eventually whether it is through birthing classes or our kids when they are here, so that is something to look forward to!

Liefie totally agree with you. That's what makes the expecting by months threads so nice, as everyone has different experiences when it comes to symptoms and feelings, and it's nice to know you're not the only one :P and I also defs have my down days even when not pregnant!
