Hi Ladies,

I haven't checked into Moomie is a while. Reason being that i lost my baby boy on 1 November. My blood pressure was through the roof and when i was admitted it only became worse and that affected my platlet count which dropped so low that it started to affect my organs and i began to bleed internally. An emergency c-section had to be performed and unforunately my little one was to small to survive. It's been the most horrifying and painful experience i'll ever go through and i'm trying to be strong and heal with time. Its difficult but my faith keeps me going.

It's been lovely interacting with everyone on this forum. You ladies helped me more than you could ever imagine during my short lived first pregnancy. Unfortunately my time here is done and i would just like say good bye to you beautiful souls. I'll always keep "Due February 2016" close to my heart.

xoxo

Sjoe, seems like Feb is the season for big little ones....

Doctor told me that Karmi will probably only hit the 1kg mark by the end of this week or the beginning of next week (so 27 / 28 weeks ) BumbleBee - I was expecting to have the bigger baby in here - as both daddy and I were both +-4kg babies at birth!!! But I am not going to object if madam turns out to be smaller than 4kgs, as I too am concerned about having to push out a big baba!!!

CarienM, we all have our issues, and to be honest - if my mom had to arrange my baby shower I would rather just not have one at all, as I know exactly what you are talking about when you say nothing gets done without expecting something back (with interest I might add). But maybe you should have a little bit of faith in your friend... You can always guide her in the direction you want the shower to go in.... For instance, I helped with the theme of the shower, the list of people to be invited as well as helping to decide where to have it - but the rest I am leaving up to my sister.... As she is probably the family member most excited about little one's arrival and has said that she wants to make it extra special for me :-) Karmi's middle name is also going to be my sister's name - so that will just make their bond extra special one day  But I really hope you sort something out ;)

Thanks BumbleBee - we really love the name as well, and it is so nice to actually refer to our little one by her name and not just calling her baby...

The hospital gave me a list of all I need to bring to the hospital when the big day arrives, so I am not too worried about that anymore - you will probably also get a list once you book your bed.

Oh and a baby welcoming party is just as much fun - you won't be the centre of attention, but that is fine as well. My brother's little one was born at 28 weeks and she only came out of ICU 3 months later, and we had a massive welcoming party for her - she slept through the entire thing but it was very special

@BabyT, Love the name you have chosen! :)

@Stormy, I believe everything will be just fine and your doctor will take good care of the two of you. How far along are you now?

@STK - Love your mural!! We had a similar idea but will probably be immigrating before her 2nd birthday, so decided not to change too much, but hope to do something for her when she's a little older.

@JLK, now you have the date and it's really becoming real! :silly:

I figured I'd pack my bag at 30 weeks - better safe than sorry! Found a nice list (read some of the comments too) and will see what they recommend at the classes. www.pregnantchicken.com/pregnant-chicken...ag-what-to-pack.html

I've had to plan my baby shower date around the majority of people I'm inviting - everyone works in the travel industry and December is crazy season. And then my best friend who's organising it booked a trip to the UK before I became pregnant, so I have to postpone it till mid January which is cutting it a little close. Hope I make it to my own baby shower :( otherwise it'll have to be a 'baby welcoming' party.

I'll admit I'm a little scared of having a big baby as Mia is also ahead with her growth, but people keep assuring me a little bigger is better - except I'm the one who has to push! My husband and I were both only 2.5kg when we were born, so I always had this idea of having a small baby - granted we were both preemies. We'll just have to wait and see! @JLK & CarienM, I see our babies have measured ahead at round about the same time - maybe it's just a growth spurt and they'll grow into their long/big limbs? :) They've still got a lot of growing ahead in the next couple of months!

@BabyT - see my mother and my sister are not nice people on a good day, and my best friend (and I love her very much) cant organize or schedule anything to save her life so I am not sure that either of them will be jumping up and down to host a baby shower for me. My mother and sister did host my first baby shower but it caused such fights between us b/c my mother is not capable of doing something just because and then expected things from me in return. Anyway, story for a different day.

We just got back from the doc. Our little boy is not little at all, at 25w2d he is already 1.15kg and measuring at least a week ahead of schedule, in some instances 2 weeks which is a bit concerning. I am a bit concerned about gestational diabetes but my doc doesnt seem too worried about it. She is sending me for a pre-screening test just to be sure everything is ok. She did say that if he keeps growing at this rate that the possibility of a VBAC is diminishing rapidly which is not really what I wanted to hear, but its still not off the table. This pregnancy is so completely different from my first pregnancy, it is still hard for me to believe this is also a boy...I know all babies and pregnancies are different but really, this is sooo completely different. Anyway, i guess its just a confirmation that this little guy is his own person.

Hoping everyone has a great day :)

Hi CarienM, I totally agree with you on having a baby shower for every child. But surely there is someone that will arrange this for you?

My sister has organised my baby shower for the 12th of December, so that it will take place just before everyone goes on holiday, as January is an extremely busy period at work and I might have to work a couple of weekends so I might miss my own shower.... But it works out really well, as I will then me 7 months preggers by then and it will be just before my December leave - so I will have lots of time to wash all of babies new blankets and clothes before I have to pack the hospital bag  and my work is also planning on throwing me a baby shower before the end of the year, found out completely by chance as one of the ladies accidentally mentioned something, hahahaha.....

I am not receiving notifications at all, but I see that it is a general complaint in all the forums....

Love the owl theme! We decided on a white, grey and aqua room with giraffes as a theme.... Will post a pic of the baby linen as soon as I receive it :-)

Baby is already spoilt rotten  some aunts from Cape Town that wont be able to come to Jo'burg for the shower has sent me prezzies :-) feels like Christmas has come early for us.... One thing is for sure - no one has met Karmi yet and she is already so loved
