Morning all

Must say that I have also been checking out the daily deals on takealot - we have bought a feeding chair, camp cot and a bottle sterilizer through the specials so far and saved a whole lot of money!!!

In terms of the car seat, the ones that uses the seat belt is still SABS approved which means that they are considered extremely safe as well - even though they do not use the Isofix system. We have received a present in the form of a Maxi Cosi baby car seat and base from my sister in law and is works with the Isofix system, but I doubt that we would be willing to pay something like R2700 for the base alone and then another R2000 for the chair - especially considering how fast baba grows out of the chair.... But I guess it is all up to your personal choice, as long as the chair has been SABS approved.

CarienM, I normally suffer from Sinus issues, but since I have been pregnant it has gotten much worse! I can barely smell anything and my nose keeps running... But I think this is something we will just have to live with until baby arrives... at least it is not unbearable, so I can cope with it.

How are your digestive systems treating you? I never use to have an issue and I am very scared of getting hectic haemorrhoids as I hear they can become quite bad during pregnancy, especially during the last trimester! Trying to eat enough fibre and drink plenty of water in the hopes that it will assist the process....

STK, the belly is growing beautifully Wow, baby is clearly very healthy more than doubling his size in just 3 weeks! Oh now I am even more excited for next weeks scan!!! My baba was already 205g at our previous scan at 17 weeks and 4 days...

Our company pays bonuses in May and I was in the position to save the entire amount from this year as well as a part the bonus from last year in our baby fund - so at least we don't have to worry about how to pay for all the stuff we need, which is such a relieve, as there really is enough to worry about already.

@STK - totally agree, I have an isofix and will not look back, people who use the seat belt are comfortable with it but when they are baby baby like that, I just felt safer. My son's car seat now works with a seat belt, but it connects at 6 points, and he weights over 15kg so has a bit more of a weight to hold it down and if you can get that thing out by shaking or pulling it, then you are good. My husband took almost an hour to figure out how to install it first time, but now he is a pro.

With the isofix, it stays in your car, you just "click" the car seat in and out, and generally you can fit the car seat onto the pram. You must just find out when you buy it. The maxi cosi car seats fit onto most prams, but some require adapters. I know they fit onto the quinny and the ABC design prams, but again just find out (if you are going to get a maxi cosi that is).

Regarding the baby expo, some advise for anybody that has not been there. Go early, the earlier the better, we generally get there to go in when they open, even on the week days it gets really really busy quickly! I go basically to buy nappies b/c they are about R20-R40 a box cheaper than they are in store. My husband and I take turns to go b/c that is all we go for now, the first few of course we went together b/c we bought stuff for the baby, but now we have most things. Also, baby city has free tickets if you go during the week, so pick up some at the tills if you want (you dont have to buy anything to get them).

As a first time parent I would definitely recommend you go b/c they have excellent show specials at pretty much all the stalls, you can get most big things for baby there and save quite a lot of money, maybe just make a list before you go of things you want to buy and maybe compare some prices of things in other stores before you go so you have a base to compare to (for the big things at least). Anyway, sure you ladies have your plans already worked out in that regard.

We go for our 20 week scan on Monday, also looking forward to that, my little man has been really active, so hopefully he is growing well. @Nix still stinking of you every day and have you and your little one in my prayers.

Then last thing ladies, so I know sinus during pregnancy is a known fact even has a name, but does anybody else have it? I didnt have it in my first pregnancy, and I have it with a vengeance this time! I think that is half the cause of my headaches too, anybody else find they are the same?

Good morning! BabyT I am also from joburg and will definitely go to expo in November. Just as STK we will also most likely take the Friday off to go see all the specials and avoid the weekend rush. I hope to hear from you soon as to that measurements BabyT! Good luck!

@MeijierMom, We had our 20 Week anomaly scan on Monday, and little beanie is doing great, and weighing in at a whooping 380g, he was only 170g at our 17week gender scan. Guess he is loving it in there . I've only gained 5kg since we found out that we're pregnant
I'm glad you guys reminded us about the baby expo - apparently on their website its from 26 - 29 Nov, I think hubby and I are going to take off that Friday and go and scout the specials - as we have antenatal classes that weekend.

@BabyT so jealous of your shopping spree!
Our company is only paying out bonuses at the end of Oct so we will be using that to start with the nursery, like a fresh coat of paint, and furniture etc.

Oh and we bought a car set on Takealot (one of those daily deals) thinking it was isofix, but when it arrived yesterday we spent a good 30mins just trying to install the seat in the car, (and still we got it wrong ), apparently isofix has two metal like points that slide into the isofix fixtures on the back seat, but this one needed to be attached with a seatbelt, so we are returning this one and looking for one with proper isofix. What are your ladies take on isofix vs seatbelt? Which is better?

The reason I asked how far along you are if to get an idea of what sort of size I can lexpect baby to be at next week's appointment - I am 22 weeks tomorrow so I am guessing by little one will already be a bit bigger than those measurements. But I will let you know by next week

Hi baby T! We are now 20 weeks. I have picked up around 4-5kg and my clothing doesn't fit any more! Where are u from? I know there is a baby expo in joburg at the end of November. I went earlier in the year and the prices were very good, especially on nappies. I am waiting for that show to buy all my products, it will be my shopping spree! I hope you enjoy it!
