Re the vaccine I have been told by gynae, hubbys uncle who is a doctor to go get the swine flu one. I am also against vaccines but hubby will be going to these matches and I dont wanna take the risk as much as Im scared of it.

Makaozie, i know this sounds weird, but try putting an onion (whole, not peeled or cut) next to your bed and one on your desk at work.

They supposedly attract all the germs to them and away from you. It might help you not get sick so often.

(my motto: if it can't hurt, why not try it?!)

i think i do need the vaccine, cz every month i get flu and m worried. m seeing my gynae next week so i'll ask her everything

Are you not glad we have some sunshine again up in Gauteng? Feel it with you all in the Cape, that cold and wet weather was really getting to me.

Regarding the flu vac, I never have it so will not have it this year either. Was also torn about the swine flu one, especially with the SWC, but decided against it after discussing it with my gynae and a couple of other professionals. Also googled it for side effects and didn't like what I've found. So, I'll be boosting my immune system and as far as possible try to avoid public sapces (which unfortunately mean I'm not going to any SWC matches )

I also had a very quiet weekend, but a vry nice Mother's Day. At the moment I try to plan as little as possible for weekends, know my hubby and son will start complaining soon.

Oh yes, have to give some feedback. I got myself the Yummy Mummy Tummy and it is AWESOME. Actually contemplating about buying myself a second one, otherwise I'll have to wash it every night (Got it at "Mommy 2B and me" in Centurion Mall for R150)

Im still torn about the vaccine. Altough i never get the flue, the swine flue is a different story altogether. They predict that the oversees soccer supporters are going to bring it back to SA in full force. Im flying to Natal Mid June and the airports are usually high risk areas.Pregnant women are also more at risk, as quite a few pregnant women died last year!
On the other hand, i dont want to have a vaccine that is so new and without knowing what effect it can have on my unborn child??? I'll speak to my doctor about it when i see her again and hear what she says.

Personally i'm not going to get it. I have my own (probably silly) reasons but i am a bit against flu vaccines (will definitely ensure baby gets normal vaccines - it's just the flu vaccines i'm against).

So far over the years i have never had a flu vaccine. And so far, I can't even remember when the last time was i had flu! YEt everyone i know that gets flu vaccines seems to get sick soon afterwards and/or gets flu worse than they've ever had it before. (this includes my grandparents that both died the year they decieded to get the flu vaccine for the first time!)

I haven't been sick at all this year despite being repeatedly exposed to sick people and so i don't really want to get a flu vaccine for the first time whilst i'm pregnant on the off chance that i might actually get flu - when i don't know how i'll react to it.

But as i said, that's my own personal (probably silly) reasons and opinion and i know that healthcare workers reckon that all pregnant women should get the vaccine.

Congrats ONel, a lovely milestone. I was 20 weeks yesterday (or tomorrow, depending on which scan to believe!). So, we are at very similar stages!

I am so tired today!
