up and until when does a baby gain double the weight ? I hear in the last month they gain not much ?

Wierd cravings huh? Could also be Iron deficiency it makes you crave non-edible things too - if you have tried the milk thing... its other symptoms are paleness and sleepyness so you wouldn't notice... third trimester is high protein usage time so it fits too...

Maybe try some iron rich foods instead of the sand?

Meekah, thanks for the dates. I was planning on going on the 16/08. Want hubby to go with on the tour, but he is either working or away on the other days. And we missed this week's tour

At this stage I would probably go for a CS and the dates would either be 6 or 10 Sept. Decided on a CS because I would also have a tubal ligation done.

@ all the ladies craving the sand,chalk,etc, sounds like a calsium shortage. And Ginah, now I know what you referring to. For some or other reason I used to eat/crave that when I was still in school. Was permanently walking around with a chalk in my shirt pocket.

If it is your first birth there then I would say yes ... it isn't that long either.
They just go through the normal stuff, show you where to go when you come in (in labour).
What the birthing room looks like, the theatre,
the nicu and so on.
What your room might look like should you be sharing or on your own etc.
Very informative so that you know what to do on D day.
I guess its no big deal if you miss it because they are so nice and helpful they will help you through all of it anyways.

Ginah I know what you mean I feel like eating a heap of red sand and licking walls, goodness me and DH passed a heap of sand the other day and I felt like jumping out of the car and grabbing a few hand fulls! lol

My back is killing me and got up this morning with the worste pubick pain ever! Well only 35 days to go though! Come 24 Aug can not wait!

Your due date won't make it for the tour for the 20/09.

I will be giving birth there but decided to give the tour a skip this time around as I have been before when I was expecting my son and also I asked the doctor and sister that helped with my admission stuff and she said that everything has remained the same.
There are still a couple of classes left though:
August 2 - Afr
August 16 - Eng and
Sept 6 - Afr
Sept 20 - Eng

Typing this but will go back to see your due date incase you are due before then.

Ginah I will also be leaving the 3rd for maternity leave but our leave is longer so I only get back to work on the 10/03/2011.
Extending leave is a great idea though Ntoko ...
you will see that you won't want to go back sooner after all!
