Hi gals,
Only read the last page so far but wanted to reply to Mandy before I go back to catch up.....
Morning Mandy, hope your night was a little more successful????? I'm pretty sure Cam's acting out and attachment to you is because of the new baby, C was very clingy when I fell pregnant. That's actually why I moved him to a bed because he wanted me to be beside his cot all the time and I just couldn't do it so I used to lay in his bed beside him when he felt needy. I know you're the same as me WRT sleep training and strict your bed/my bed thing but I will say that I did give in a lot when I was pregnant because I could see he really genuinely needed the reassurance and comfort. Besides you still have 6m of pregnancy, perhaps you can just give in to him a little for now, he most likely won't need it for your entire pregnancy but if you fight against it he could well put up this fight for the next 6m these boys are stubborn! Obviously you don't just want to give him his way all the time but when you can see he's doing it to get your affection perhaps just give him 5min of your time. Go lay beside him in his bed at 4am and see if he won't drift back to sleep perhaps? And the thing with the teddy? Is he trying to take it with to school? Can he not just take it with if it makes him feel better? C has this thing, he likes to take something to school every day, sometimes it's a car, a shoe, an extra bag even took my wooden spoon from the kitchen one day but I just ask the teacher to stick it in his bag so it doesn't get lost. I figure he just feels a little more comfortable if he can take a little something familiar with him.
This whole bringing another child into the family thing affects kids very differently, Addy I think is mature beyond her years and she is and will take it all in her stride, she's going to be a great big sister. C and Cam on the other hand are still very much mommies babies and they're not so keen on sharing the attention. My best advice to anyone who thinks they might struggle is to just allow a little bit more patience and expect a lot more baby attention seeking actions from your child. C took it pretty tough, there's nothing worse than seeing those heartbroken eyes well up when you no longer have time for your 2 year old and suddenly you wish you devoted so much more time to them before the next baby arrived. I think in probably 90% of the families the first child acts just like this, it's pretty natural to suddenly feel needy and jealous, hell if your husband declared to you that in 9 months you're gonna share him with another woman you'd also act out, well I know I would LOL
Simone- sorry you're suffering a bit of insomnia! That preggy brain workking overtime?
