Ally- I agree with Julz, you DO deserve the award never mind the nomination. You are being head hunted by international companies and the first South African to be so in most cases, what an achievement for South Africa itself never mind you, you are bringing great things to the South African name and for that you deserve amany awards. I haven't had chance to look at the link yet but will check it out tomorrow but my opinion is......."Where do I vote?"

Julz- what were you doing up so late tonight? You'll be exhausted tomorrow. Sorry your sister isn't talking to you, is this over the family argument where your mum got hurt? Wow, gotta love a good wedding to stir up sh1t. I hope you have it sorted by the weekend, it is this coming weekend the wedding isn't it?

Simone- did Addy like todays present? Our PnP is selling little metal cars, action city it think, for like R7 each so I really wanted to get a collection for C so we bought 10 and we're keeping them in the cupboard for treats when he is a good boy. Just hope he doesn't ask for a present everyday like Addy or I'll have to run and get some more LOL

So gals, I want to know what you think about ceiling fans in kitchens? My DH came to me last night and asked if I would like 2 ceiling fans with light fittings in the kitchen rather than little down light spots. I actually thought it was a very clever idea but I've never really heard of people having them so I told him I will first ask you girls to see if anyone can think of any reason not to have them. I figure not only will they keep us cool but they will keep the flies at bay too.

P.S- I'm writing this at 4am but only going to post when I wake up because now I'm scared my posting will send simone's moomie alert off and wake her up LOL

Had a busy day. Busy working to make up the couple of hours I took to go out with my mom. We went to Kirstenbosch for a picnic. Dylan was quite sweet. We saw a water snake and a crab etc. Very cool.

He slept all afternoon and is asleep again.

Seems my sister is still not talking to me. Great!

Helen shame I hope Nina is okay. flip Dylan dehydrated after two pukes and I was shocked at how quickly he got sick, but I am really pleased she is keeping the rehydrate down. x Good luck.

I haven't even read any posts yet, I just wanted to pop in and say hi, been a pretty crap couple of days. Had to take Nina back to the doc as she still wasn't right, the fluid in her ear has turned to an infection so he prescribed anti biotics. Before I took her to the doc yesterday she'd had a poo that was looser than normal but actually looked like a normal baby poo (remember she gets constipated so she usually has pretty hard poos) so I thought maybe she was starting to sort herself out in the pooing department. Doc noticed that she was a little dehydrated yesterday because she didn't want to drink because of the ear infection but was pretty confident that would improve after starting the antibiotics. He suggested watering down her formula which I've been doing but she's got proggressively worse as the day's progressed and she's been having loose stools all day. She was drinking maybe 50-100mls at each feed and was then vommiting afterwards and suffering with serious cramps so I took her back this afternoon. She's not badly dehydrated but obviously with the diarrhea the doctor is concerned so I now have to stop milk for 24 hours and offer Rehidrat only, luckily she's taken 250mls of that since 4pm (that's almost as much milk as she's consumed all day!) and is now asleep in bed, fingers crossed she has a good night and wakes up feeling better. I'm terrified of her getting dehydrated...!

Then we also have a blocked drain today so I've had to sort that out, have a huge gaping hole in the garden, we've sussed out what the problem is but it'll have to wait until the weekend before Theo can fix it, luckily the water is still draining so it's not too much of a worry apart from holes Oliver can fall down!

And on that note Theo's just got home with take away so I'm going to love you and leave you and probably pass out, I'm absolutely exhausted. Will catch up tomorrow hopefully. X x X

Ally eish...the 2 books together were R800! So tell C not to complain about the freebies! Lol. Can't wait to see chicken recipe if baked and low fat! I'm always looking for new ideas for supper.

Simone, the Nigella book is SO fantastic. I read it like I do novels, from front to back. Really great recipes in there. C said to me the other day that he doesn't know what to buy me anymore because I'm getting all the good books for free lol.

Yoza, yuuummm Danish Chocolate is so yum. My aunt is an air-hostess for SAA and she is always bringing us back chocolate from around the world...I'm sure she prob just buys it in the duty free though lol.

Coloured my hair today, was planning on it being dark brown (it's usually like a plum/mahogany colour but now it's almost black. A bit darker than I had bargained for but C says it suits me so I'm happy. It's so freaking long now but I just don't have the time to go sit at a salon so it just needs to grow a bit more. another 2 or so months and it will be touching my bum!!!!

I'm making Southern 'fried' chicken tonight. Trying to modify the dish to be healthier. So I'm doing all the steps EXCEPT for the bread and I'm going to coat the chicken that's been soaking in buttermilk with finely crushed corn flakes. It's going to keep it really crisp and then I'm going to bake it rather than frying. I'll report tomorrow if it actually worked lol. Maybe I've got a winner here. Just serving it with potato wedges and salad. I'm so freakin hungry but at least all this dieting is showing, I'm losing about 10-15cm a week now (not that I feel it shows but still).

I'm going to be very cocky now and ask you something you might not even think I deserve, but a friend has nominated me for the Top 200 young people of South Africa in the Mail & Guardian. C says he doesn't think I've achieved enough to be named one of the 200 but another food blogger was named one of the 200 last year so I though, why the hell not? Go to mg.co.za/article/2011-02-10-nominate-you...young-south-african/ and see if you think I deserve to be nominated. I understand completely if you don't, I don't even know if I deserve it but I'm just going out on a limb here. :)

simone & Lisha- just some politics with the voting for the GHD comp but i managed to difuse it before it got out of hand, pathetic stuff really, amazing how women will act when they all want the same thing.

Yoza- the boys are 3.9kg and 3.4kg so Jono's weight is slowing slightly but he went through a bad 2 weeks of feeding. Alex drinks 140ml and Jono 100-140ml depending on his mood, when the colic hits sometimes i can barely get him to drink 50ml. Pead says i can start solids from 5m because they are about a month prem. not looking forward to that, with C i couldn't wait but i can see these boys are no where near ready, they're still sleeping a lot of the time.

I can only get them circumcised from 10m because now their willies are big enough they're not newborns anymore so a local anesthetic won't work as they're too wriggly so they have to have a general and they will only be strong enough from about 10m. a bit gutted because i wanted to do it before they start grabbing genitals but hopefully they will still be a bit slow in that dept by then.

going to pick up some stuff to thicken the formula today so hopefully the reflux can stop, poor Alexander suffers badly always choking on sick and Jono, well I'm sure he's suffering a bit of silent reflux actually.
