Simone veg is still good if frozen. I do that with butternut all the time.

Can't G complain to someone about lack of payment. Does he not belong to a union that he can take it up with? Or even go to CCMA for advice???

Simone, my mom always freezes veg like, pumpkin, green beans, sweet potato & carrots for me.
The trick we found is to pre-cook it a bit, we found that freezing it raw doesnt work well for us. And bonus is that you can prepare your veg in 10-15mins cause its already cooked half way.

Vix I used to use a lot of butter in the past and now do what Christi says and use Rama brick ... unless we're going for a real spoil lol. Butter is ridiculously expensive now :( but oh so yummy ...

Christi those doors are gorgeous so it's definitely worth the hard work.

Simone happy studying ... so why are they taking so long to get your systems up & running?

lol yes Shrey is too clever for me ;) but now that I've started this process I am going to see it through (lol can u see me convincing myself) ...

Vix she says I should use strong deodorant and all I have is Dove so I doubt that will work ... maybe I'll use dh's as that has very strong smell. I will try the milo suggestion and get dh to give it to him, tks for that idea.

Julz how many weeks left at current job? Wish I was you lol...

Vix I have refused to give up butter!I've given up my lamb, I've gone over to sachet milk...but I cannot do margarine! We buy in bulk when on special for R22,99 about. Then I get 3 tubs. so luckily we always have that.

mushrooms for R6,95????? Wow! I must head over to f&v when I have cash. Will buy pumpkin and butternut and let them chop it up for me instead of pre cut packs from Woolies... Can u freeze it??

Leigh I told dh about your end of the month salticrax joke...shame he looks so defeated he can't even laugh (me found it hilarious). He is beating himself up cause we are in the worst situation of our lives! I'm just taking it day by day...just praying somebody will pay him soon! He is owed about R50k in total for all work he has done in last few months. And it doesn't help that dept of education pd them the 9th of last month for some reason! Like WC is reason to pay them 2w early???

Anyways...let me study!!!

We dont cook with cream due to the fat content so I am in the same boat and while we may not have to cook on budget we do anyway so also not much lamb etc. Mainly mince, lentils etc for us. Vix we do the mexican with baked beans & can of tomato etc yummy quick and you can just add some mince for hubby. I put it on a bag of corn chips and a teeny cheese on top a dinner is read in 20 min 15 being oven time.

Lol Nelria. those two are going to be best of buds.

The garage doors are stunning Christi. Hard work hey but so worth it.

Lisha it must be so hard to wean shrey. It broke my heart. Thinking of you.x

Vix, whenever a recipy calls for butter, I use the Rama margarine brick....

When I used the menu's from that book, I cooked for four adults (while living at FIL's) and the dry goods worked out to about R900, with meat for the month about R400, and fresh ingredients weekly at about R150. I don't think that was too bad R1900 for 4 adults for food for a month?
