Hi ladies
Robyn must be nice getting some solid hours of sleep again!
So cute re the cereal! Just shows shes ready. K is the same with her food - but even more with Selero icies she doesnt give me a chance to eat it she wants it all.
Wow she's a strong girl!
Hi everyone else?
Kaylee is off the ventilator!!! So happy! I put the pics on facebook of her without the ventilator, she looks so peaceful.
But when she wakes up she gets very frustrated as her arms are tied down and she cant really move them, and the pipe in her nose irritates her so she tries so hard to pull it out but cant

She is still very sedated so she cries but its such a wimper sound that you can hardly hear it. But then she looks at me and my heart breaks cos I cant help her

My poor baby girl.
I've realised in this week just how much I love her! She has been through so much and I would do anything in the world for her not to be in such pain and discomfort
So yesterday was a sad day but really gave me some perspective. There is a newborn baby in the ICU who also just had a heart op. The mommy is from Namibia and is single - she has NO family or support with her in Cape Town.
They did chromosome testing on the baby once it had been born, and the surgeon received the results yesterday which confirmed baby has Trisomy 18!!! I had to go step into another room as the tears just ran down my face at the thought of a mom hearing that kind of news.
Now the surgeon isnt qualified to tell her about it or guide her about future care. All she could do was tell her it was a pretty bad prognosis and life expectancy isn't good and that she should go onto google to read up about it.
I cant imagine finding out that kind of news and being limited to getting the details via google without any idea of future care / how she will do.
The baby is amazingly strong and came through a heart op and looks like she'll be moving to general ward soon which is pretty amazing for a baby that's considered not viable with life.
Just shows how truely miraculous life is.
I wish I could say something to this mom to make her feel better. But truth is I cant.
So I'm waiting for Butterflies to get in touch with me so that I can put them in contact for some encouragement and guidance.
My heart just breaks. And it makes me realise just how fortunate we are to have healthy children, even if they aren't 100% and need surgery to assist them. Certainly gives some perspective!
Sorry for the once again selfish post. You guys are my outlet sometimes so hope its okay.
I'm going to the hospital at 12 again, and will stay there until 7:30 tonight again. It's a long day but at least then I am with her.
I was told to bring some cereal, and that they may see if she can breastfeed today! Totally excited about that prospect! But she's going to be in a great deal of pain on her side as the wound is still bleeding, so not really sure how I'm going to manage with that. If only I could take the pain away
