HI All!

Joybaby - congrats, Rei is absolutely adorable!!! :-) Quite chubby too eh? Kaelyn was 49cm too but she was only 3.05kg. I am sure you must be super releived after all you went through with Kaylee!

Dont stress with the breastmilk Jaundice Kaelyn had it too... it took a while to go away but never affected her in any way and also never measured high enough to cause concern.

Soo i went for my first scan on friday, thankfully theres only one... or doc says still a small chance of identical twins, (but i think she was teasing me coz i look 12 weeks preg already). Also booked all my apps for the rest of the year :-) 22/11 and 13/12 if i remember correctly :-)

She also took one look at my urine test and told me i was showing signs of starvation, seriously wanted to admit me to try deal with the morning sickness... but DH promised her he would get me to eat better and she said i should stop taking my multivitamin to try ease the MS a bit. She also said no matter how sick i feel i must eat, even if i bring it up later as only some will come up. ugh so i spent the weekend... eating! Only 4 weeks to go and it eases up, right? Somehow though i have already gained a KG in the last month and a half so it cant be sooo bad.

anyways, better get back to work, have a great week ladies

Hi ladies!!!

How is everyone?

So Rei is here finally! CSec on Friday she was born at 1:55pm weighing 3.46KG and 49CM. I was 38w6d along.
She latched beautifully the first two feeds. I waited very long in recovery, and by the time I got there she was screaming away for milk. We managed to get a private room which was lovely we could have visitors any time and it meant I could sleep in until around 8am without anyone disturbing us.
Struggled a bit with the feeds for a couple of days but we seem to be coming right, getting to know each other too!

Day 3 was a bit stressful as the paed suspected jaundice. The tests came back clear, but I kept on wondering and second guessing if she was looking too yellow.
The tests came back negative though but she was still looking so yellow!
I found out from flowergirl that this paed is known for putting newborns under the uv lights for jaundice even before the test results come out so I'm really relieved he didnt do that!
It was rechecked again yesterday as she still seemed yellow to 'everyone', but the results were even better than the day before so she just seems to have a yellow undertone to her skin, like her mommy! (Kaylee will be jealous!)

We got home yesterday. Kaylee came with daddy to fetch us at the hospital. Was all very sweet and she is really good with Rei. Mostly goes on with her own thing but gives lots of hugs and keeps wanting to give Rei a dummy - which Rei isnt interested in whatsoever.

Today was a bit hectic as I am in a lot of pain, more so than the previous days after the csec. DH and I were not seeing eye to eye on priorities while he is off work which added to the strain. Kaylee was home when we bathed Rei, thought she would enjoy it. But with Rei crying so much during the bath it really upset her, and she even told me I was naughty. So that didnt go so well and all added to the stress. I eventually got hold of the gynae to discuss my pain. I told him the voltaren just wasnt lasting long enough and the stillpain is useless. Turns out they gave me the wrong dose of voltaren (or I am misunderstanding). The box says twice daily, to me that means every 12 hours. But apparently I can be taking it every 8 hours, that's a huge difference! So I will try that tomorrow but if it doesnt work, then he'll give me a script for something stronger than the stillpain. I really hope it works though, as I dont want meds that will make Rei sleepy!

She is feeding well. Last night she did cluster feeding though, from 5:30 - 7pm she fed 3 times. Then from 10:30pm till 12pm again 3 times, and then again from 2am - 4am. And then wanted milk again at 6am. I was pretty exhausted, but managed to then sleep until 9:30am after that. Thankfully DH got up with Kaylee and the inlaws are taking her to school this week. Hopefully tonight will go better. She sleeps through all the noise thankfully. Hope it'll stay that way. And we have one long awake time late afternoon which is when we bath her. The rest of the time she pretty much eats, sleeps and poops (sometimes 3 nappy changes with 1 feed / burp session!)

Shame poor baby has thrush. Think it might be cos of the antibiotics I was on last week. So at just 5 days old we had to get her a salf and oral medication cos she could get it on her tongue and then me on my nipples.

Anyway, I better get going. Got to find a little me time before bed, waiting for Rei to wake for her next feed within the next 30-60mins probably! (Edit to say she woke up as I finished this post lol!)

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Hi ladies
Argh -I typed a whole long post last night and I just saw it didn't go thru!

I've had quite a hectic week, even tho DH worked from home to help me
D was sick the whole week (post nasal drip, coughing up a lung every night, on antibiotics, even a suppository every night! )
So DH was kept busy with her while I fought off the need to go to a dr for antibiotics myself (have another bad chest infection-coughing up green gunk)
So nursing a new baby while you can hardly breathe is not easy!
Shame, DH did very well but I think he couldn't wait to go back to work this morning!

Besides being sick, I also got a hectic rash all over my body (I'm talking from my ankles, up my legs, back & stomach, on my arms and up my neck, to my cheeks & chin, even on my scalp!) Must have been the combo of the antibiotic I was on the week McK was born and the epi

But McK is such a good baby-she has a set night time routine already-feeding at 21:00, 01:30, 04:00, 08:00
She sleeps well during the day too but doesn't seem to have a set day time routine yet.
Her umbilical cord fell off on Fri and she was born 3.55kg, 51cm tall, 32cm head
BF is going pretty well-she doesn't feed as nicely during the day-doesn't empty the boobs properly so she needs a 'top up' sometimes which throws out the routine
Plus I'm having the same issue as with D-my right boob fills up faster and has more milk than my left, so it gets really hard and sore ( like right now!)
I am expressing during the day but its sometimes difficult to get the timing right so I have milk for her when she needs to feed

Of, and DH is going to Jhb on Wed & Thurs ( ) but my mom said she will come pick up D Wed morning and take her to school and pick her up for me and then her to MIL on Thurs

D is such a good big sister-helping mommy change nappies! Always wanting to hold and kiss McK -so cute!!!!

Shame Cols, i am so sorry! I was really hoping it would be your month (and we could be PG together) Ah well i think the second opinion is definately a must... and surely your doc should understand, its not that you think he is doing anything wrong, you just want to be sure that you have tried every option before giving up.

Goodluck with the exams! I am sure you will do 100% fine :-)

The morning sickness is okay... just battling to find what i can eat... everything seems to put me off eating. and eating doesn't seem to ease the morning sicness at all, sorta triggers it. more indigestion sickness in the evenings.

Josh writes in november so he is studying like mad at night. He is super happy i am PG and falling asleep at 8 at the latest every night... he then goes to study after i pass out... so he is getting in loads of guilt free study time!

Before i got pregnant i thought i would looove twins... then i got pregnant and things changed... all of a sudden i realised just how difficult it would be to look after two babies at the same time, and a toddler too. Not to mention i seriously don't think there is any way we could afford twins!

That being said i am sure that if it turns out to be twins, once i got over the shock, i would be okay with the idea... God only deals the cards we can play huh? (that or you could adopt one... lol)

Congrats Robyn!!! I hope McK is being a precious angel and D is loving her little sister!!

BabyK, it's Evans school concert next weekend I can't wait. They're too gorgeous now with the singing and dancing now :) post a pic if you can?

Girly!!! Good luck I hope it is an easy delivery and you don't have too much pain after the op! Send us some pics of Rei!

Flower girl, all in its own time. Em is already so advanced in other things. I know it's difficult but the school will be great for her :)

Addo, how're you keeping?

Kerry, woohoo for the dummy!! How's Josh's studying going? I had violent ms with my 1st and with Evan. Try keep hydrated and keep your blood sugar up. My sister eat mari biscuits and ginger biscuits before even getting out of bed in the am. Ice cold water helps too and little dairy as possible. I found certain smells and foods triggered it worse for me.also heat. How would you feel about twins??

Afm, af arrived with a vengeance, at dr in waiting room for day 2 scan, I have an appointment with dr Rodrigues also @ medfem on 5/11 for a 2nd opinion. Dh is super frustrated. I'm on study leave I write exams tomorrow and then next Friday and the following Wednesday. Also just been through year end so pressure, pressure :( other than that Evan got this throat infection that's going around so he's been waking up every night :( I'm just drained and really miffed about af.

Kerry - that is awesome, re: the dummy. I wish Emily was ready to give hers up yet, but we are a long way off still. I wont force her though, I want her to decide. Maybe when she goes to school next year??

Re: school - everytime I think I have made up m mind regarding a school I change it again!!! I guess I am trying to hold onto "my baby" for as long as possible!! I know that she does need to go to school and be around other children from next year though so I do realise that I need to just make a decision and stick with it ALREADY!!!

Kerry - good luck with the morning sickness! I had it with Em, but it wasnt as bad as I have heard it can be. Or maybe I have just forgotten

Really hoping to be pregnant by xmas time, but I know thats a tall order, so we'll see how it all goes.

Cols - u have been quiet - how are you doing?

Robyn - congrats on the birth of your baby girl!!! Please let us know how its all going....

Joybaby - yeah, the girls had fun together on Saturday and its always nice for Em because she is not at school so on her own during the week. So, its nice that she gets to have playdates once in a while - but yeah, she was definitely tired :) She was asleep 5 minutes afer you left :)
