August-September 2010 Moms

hi Everyone,

i can see all the mommies are busy getting ready for number 2 and 3. well they are such a blessing to have.

As for me, my life has been so hectic with the arrival of my third child, its not easy having 3 children with the first born being just 5 years.

the first 2 weeks after the baby was born, was really difficult for my 2 year old daugther. she would cry for no reason, got sick a bit and whatever you tell her, the question would be WHY.

in terms of baby stuff, it has been difficult for me , because the 2 year is still on full time nappies and formula, so am now buying double things.

i have tried everything to get her off nappies but am figthing a losing battle.

as at now, my 5 year old came with flu from creche and all three now have! EISH

Cols - Agh no man! Shame i can imagine that must be seriously soul destroying! One of my colleagues went through the same... tried AI a few times got lucky had the first chilt struggled for what seemed like an eternity with the second and after i don't know how many attampts handed in the towel. Funny thing is she got pregnant a month after giving up. Hang in there, anything is possible!

Potty training is totally atchieved now, she doesn't get stars for going at creche anymore, as she is now totally dry, only uses two nappies a day noww, one for her nap (usually dry when she wakes up) and one for bed time.... alwasy soaked through in the morning though. the rest of the time its pretty bunny brookies (bought a pack of 5 at WW)

As for how i am feeling, well mild morning sickness in the mornings to about 11ish and then heartburn at night (so my appetite is sorta out the window) My boobs are rather sore too, but thats the same as last time. Seriously cant wait for the 22nd though.

Robyn - good luck keeping those legs crossed for monday! Hang in there its almost over! You will know the contractions when they come!

cols - natural again

afm - had a relaxing day - mostly stayed in bed (D went to ouma, but is at home tom)
had a bad night, didn;t sleep - very uncomfortable (sore hips, tummy etc even with 4 pillow around me) hopefully will have a better night tonight
had a few tummy pangs today (not contractions, more like cramping pains) but McK is still moving around a bit (rolling around more like)
with D my water broke first, so it was an obvious sign, but now I can't even remember what the early contractions even felt like!
oh ell, dd is Mon, so will so will see how the weekend goes - right now I don't mind if she comeswhile my gynae is on leave (she gets back Mon and I have an appt with her at 08h30)

Kerry, this is as far as we go. I recon 6 months then i quit. We are following all the AI steps at the moment except the part where DH does his business in a jar. My Dr said theres nothing wrong with DH so it should work... Im glad potty trainings going so well. Evan loves the toilet he just doesnt wee in it very often...

Girly, what awesome news about the permanent position!! I ended up working until the day before Evan was born I was due 14 Aug and was booked for maternity leave from the 5th. I started labour the week before.

BabyK, he was only taking his at nap time. We stopped giving it to him at nap time and then at night. It was a little rough for 3 nights and then he got used to not having it. He doesnt want other kids dummies but cries for it if he sees his! SO we hid them all away.

I have told them I'll work till 2pm tomor and Friday so that I can get home and rest / sleep before fetching K from school. Friday I booked my brazillian wax for 4pm in preparation for the birth!
Will go from work to Baby City to buy the last toiletries we still need in order to pack the hospital bags and from there to the appointment. That way, I can stay in doors and 'relax' this weekend.

Regarding permanent - I signed my permanent contract today, which is backdated to when I started, with this time off as maternity leave. So I am going back on 1st Feb
Then I will have 1 month of getting back into it and my colleague will go off to have her baby in March! They found a temp who is willing to stay until end June when my colleague returns. Hopefully she stays on till then. And hopefully I havent scared her off with the training to date. It's been pretty intense!

Girly... well i had booked an appointment with the gynea to find out if there was a reason we were battling to get pregnant, you know murpheys law huh... so i postponed it to be on the 26th, which according to my calcs would be 8 weeks and 4 days.

On the working front, you will know whats best for you... and i guess it is important not to let them down as am i am sure you want them to hire you permanently after your maternity leave. A tough tough situation i am sure! Chin up, you are almost there!
