So I spoke to my gynae yesterday about a trial labour and VBAC. He is very happy for me to do a trial labour (he is extemely pro natural). He also said that he has no problems with me having an epidural if I want it at any stage, he said he can't understand the gynae's that stipulate no epidural for a VBAC. He says we will only make the decision at 36 weeks though cause if baby looks like she will be over 3.4kg's he won't allow me to go natural. He will also not let me go past my due date and will not do an induction, he says that 80% of all inductions land up in c-sections. So I will know which option we are going on 9th June.

He says at the mo baby is on the bigger side but could just be a growth spurt. He said at 32 weeks he would expect her to be at the most 2kg's, she is 2.126kg's. I am happy she is healthy!

Hey ladies

So far almost 4 weeks of waiting for someone to get back to me about my PMB application, I got a phone call.

Apparently my application wasn't sent through in a form - what the F&*%%%K does that mean? My gynae faxed through the form on 16th April and Discovery confirmed they received it on 19th April.

Anyhoo, this guy told me that my gynae isn't on the PMB gynae list so they will only cover 80%.

I'm still waiting for the email though.

I really want to speak to someone about me waiting almost 4 weeks - but who? any ideas?

Morning ladies

Mrs SH- regarding breastfeeding. Skyler is correct you feed the way you think is best. My antenatal instructor told us to feed every 2.5 - 3 hours during the day, last feed at 9pm and then only get up when baby wakes at night. Those day time feeds you actually wake baby up to feed so that they get enough during the day to sleep longer at night. This is what I did with Shiloe (for the 3 weeks I managed to breastfeed her) and she thrived. Some people prefer to feed on demand, it is an individual thing. But that could mean that you miss read baby thinking he is hungry but actaully he just needs to suck for comfort.

I also believe in self soothing. Putting baby down when they are drowsy but not asleep. Our antenatal instructor said the same. I have a few friends that rocked their babies to sleep and then battled to get them to self sooth later. But again it is all a preference, they are small for such a short time you might want to cuddle lots and worry about the consequences later.

Nathan is here with me at the office. Lying in his pram, sleeping. The thing is I work for my hubbie/hubbies dad, and they just got a new project to work on, so there has to be somebody at the office, to do all the orders and so on... I am the only female here, and the other do not know how to do the orders etc...

Morning ladies

Lucy - glad ur taking a Benylin day :)

I have to take DH to doctor later coz he's not getting any better

Just called gynae about extra charge for last visit - apparently he did a Doplar Scan and that's why it costs more but normal ones are only R250 odd - shoo!!

Just received package from Calora - loads of things for Connor - infrared thermometer, car seat protector thingies and more :)

SH - thanks for info on Woolies

Every 2 weeks - I understand going every 2 weeks but he wants to see me every 10 days - that's ridiculous!!

Mrs SH I think everyone ways, etc are different at our class they said its best to get breast feeding right and from about 6 weeks you can do more of a routine... BUT do it the way you want it!

I do believe in self soothing at night, a friend of mine swears she made a huge mistake that every little niggle or sound she patted him on his back and then he became so used to that it took her forever to get it out of him....

Read all the books you want and get advice but at the end of the day choose what is right for you :) Just because that midwife says you must demand feed for 6 months doesnt mean you have to! I certainly wont be doing that.

Also i plan on having breyton's cot in our room for a month till i get used to things and then he will be in his room BUT again i am not saying anything concrete as i just dont know what it will be like when he gets here lol....

From Cape Town: Little boy (Breyton) due 13 June 2010, delivering at Blaauwberg Netcare :)
