Hey Ladies

After a hectic night I approached a friend of mine who has the dream baby! Her boy was born 8 weeks prem and she started him on routine already in the hospital! This is the schedule she followed when she brought him home. It was the same STRICT schedule they had him on in the hospital. To this day you would never tell he was prem and he is THRIVING!

ROUTINE (up to 4 months)

7:30am Bottle Sleep
10:30am Bottle Sleep
1:30pm Bottle Sleep
4:30pm Bottle Sleep
6:00pm Bath-time Play time 1 hour
7:00pm Bottle Sleep
10:30pm Bottle Sleep
1:30am Bottle Sleep
4:30am Bottle Sleep

RULES

Baby has to sleep in his own bed and in his own room!

We have to wake him up for all feeds, at the feed time.

If he is woken up at night while sleep training, use the same words to shoo him back to sleep (Doo doo baby).

Nappy change only at bottle times and of course if u need to do it in between for a poopie!

Always try and get him to finish his full feed.

So as of tonight (heartbreaking...) I am going to try and put London in his own cot (which he actually prefers cause he is warmer there in his room than in mine actually)... sleeps there already during the day and gets nappy changed and fed there. So already used to room. Thankfully I have an Angel Care monitor. Scared but have been told the sooner the better EVEN FOR ME haha!

Then another piece of advice that she gave me for BOTTLE Mom's... Have a few bottles prepared in fridge enough for 1 days feeds, then have either a bottle warmer warming up or a jug of hot water so that you can have bottle ready right after change of nappy. Makes life easier than preparing each time.

NELRIA have to check messages, but quick question or EVE... where did you get your beanbag? Is it the furry animal ones from clicks???

Hi Alex,

I think I will come in on Monday just to finish up a few things. I really wish I could rest, but there is still a lot to do at home, as husband does not help at all. However, I seriously think that baby will be here this week-end. I am also just going to accept that I will have natural labour without pain relief.

simone- sorry about the referral letter but at least u know u having a healthy pregnancy. They say 1 in 20 babies are born on their due dates so maybe our babies are planning to come then. I'm gonna stick to positive thinking and visualizing my smooth, uncomplicated natural birth and hope for the best since stressing just prevents labour. U finally on leave or u gonna work till wed? Rest lekker this wkend!

skyler- its great that u got out, i can only imagine how it gets to a person being stuck indoors for a few weeks but wasnt it a mission getting everything ready to take breyton with? I keep on thinking it'll be better for me to stay indoors with baby since if we go out and he starts crying everyone's eyes will be on me to see how i calm him down and what if i cant?! My fears! Really hoping for natural as well.

hey all had super cabin fever today was crying and feeling like i am doing the same thing day in and day out and it got to much so i called my mom and we went out to the shops (with the little one) and it did the world of good i feel so much better for it and something different okay i normally sleep during this time as its his long nap but oh well think i need the change of scenery more than sleep today!

oh breyton cried and fussed from 9pm till 1am (well not cry the whole time) i mean he wouldnt sleep so it was like feeding him and trying to get him to sleep etc till 1am when he finally went down for a long period... really took its toll las tnight he would fall alseep int he arms but as soon as you put him down he cries...

Nelria i envy you i try the night time bath routine but afte rthe feed he just doesnt want to sleep last night was the first time i got him to sleep a bit and it was from 8pm for an hour and then he was up.... also i try the no rocking andput my hand on his back and shush him and it wont work he cries and cries.... so i end up rocking him cuase how long can i let him cry and shush him for?

alex am so hoping that baby will come soon for you !!! and so that you dont have an induction hope its au natural!

eve am so jealous on your bottle feeding you feed for 10 to 15 mins! WOW with breast feeding it takes me 40mins to an hour for a full feed.... that is why i probably feel like all i am doing is feeding...

Anyone else breast feeding only? feel like giving up yet? its very draining nad i dont know how much longer i can go on

yes, I asked about a referral letter, they say that they will only do a c-section in an emergency and in my case, that does not seem likely.

Also hope no induction.

I'm taking note of everything thats being said in these beginning phases since i know when i'll be going thru u, all u ladies will have advanced to confident routine phase.

Simone- i had app today and baby is 3/5ths engaged, i've been hearing 'any day now' for a while so im gatvol! They giving me till 41wks then i'll have to go for a stretch and sweep if that doesnt work then induction, really dont wanna go that route. That is NOT the labour i'm visualizing! Did u ask dr about the referral letter for csection? I hope ur baby comes soon so they wont have to induce.

Eve- i'm hoping this phase will pass soon and connor is just going thru a growth spurt. U handling it great tho.

Ronel-awesome that cord fell off and u had a great night!

Nelria- hope xen is feeling loads better. When u talk about overstimulation, does that include talking to baby and holding them? I always thought it was just bright lights, noises and colours.

eve - also re heating of bottle (keep forgetting)

what i find easiest is get yourself a metal flask (about R80 from game) complete metal no glass bits

this flask keeps things warm 24hrs and cold the same they are pure magic

ok so fill it with boiled water and pop next to bed

now premeasure formula into your formula dispensers put next to bed

ok lastly pour pre-boiled cold water in bottles (half of needed amount) pop next to bed

when connor needs bottle take one with cold water empty one formula pre-measure in and fill to full amount with boiled water from flask the half half mix is right temp for them to drink

experiment beforehand what amounts hot and cold is needed

this way everything right there and u just mix and prep once a day
