hey all

eve i think its normal as mine did that kinda at the two week mark he became more "awake" also feeds every 2 hours and a little longer at night.... also needs to be rocked to sleep or have some coaxing to go to sleep!!! drove me mad but i guess now i am used to it. Also they go through a growth spurt at 7 to 10 days and again at 3 weeks and 6 weeks where they will feed more. during the day mine feeds every two hours, bar lunch time after lunch he naps for a longish time but other than that its every two hours then at night his last feed is at 10 where after that he will sleep till 2am then feed then wake at 6 and sometimes he will wake at 4am sometimes not.... so ya!

Eve regarding food if mine falls asleep i wake him burp him (if i think he needs a little more) then put him back on and he normally drinks more, sometimes they just lazy and they fall asleep but they not actually finished!

Yes if i express i only get out 40mls almost 50mls then my boob is finished..... so i reckon on breast milk that is how much they take in?

eve - also i heard its better to change nappy before a feed (even if he screams a little shampies) cause that way if he really falls asleep at the feed you can put him straight into cot for a sleep, otherwise if you change nappy after you are waking them up a little more try it that way. Or try feeding a little then stopping to change nappy then feed the rest.... especially at night i burp half way through and change before hand so that if he sleeps at the end i take him straight from boob to cot and its easier ...

Breyton's first week he picked up laods, second only a little and now third loads so i guess it differs but i trust the nurses

morgan little one is too cute!!!

Alex - thanks for your reply. hat I mean about the C-section is, if my GP recommends it and gives a referral letter that I must hand in at the Hospital, will the hispital then do it based on this referral? Alex, do you also have extreme pressure down below. BTW, I reminded my boss that Friday is my last day and he asked me so very nicely, please can I not stay until the 30th (Wednesday) lunchtime?? I really think that the baby is on its way now, just a few more days. I will ask tomorrow. Will chat again on Friday.

Lucy - the formula tin says 100mls and 6 feeds so that's what I've tried to follow. I'm not forcing him though - if he doesn't finish it then I just keep it for about an hour and then he normally has a little more.

Alex I am not sure, I assume so, but very difficult to get 75mls if you are expressing. That is why on demand is shorter time periods between feeding compared to formula. You need to check with your Paed tho?

lucy- i forgot to ask u, would that formula be applied to breastmilk as well? I mean, if u expressing.

Simone- all the best with ur app 2moro, ask the dr about the csection, i know at my active birth unit they wont send u for one unless labour isnt progressing. I went for a scan at 36 wks and they estimated my baby will be 3.7kgs at birth, i'm not gonna let it bother me. Our bodies wont grow a baby we cannot birth naturally. Only exception i see is if u have a small pelvis. Trust in ur body! My next app is on fri and i think baby is fully engaged now, have to wait and hear.
Eve- shame man! I hope connor settles soon and lets u sleep, maybe he's going through a growth spurt. For the time being, why dont u use disposables?

Are you sure he is meant to get 100mls a feed. Cause not even London can do that or should do that and he weigh's 4kg!

The formula is this...

150 x kg = mls per day and then you divide it up by the amount of feed he has per day.

Eg: 150 x 4 = 600 per day

10 feeds = 60mls
8 feeds = 75mls
