Hi Ladies

Mrs SH - Thanks, I had to drove Zarika to clinic on tuesday and it was fine for me. I was just wondering because I heard some peeps say you can't drive for 4 or 6 weeks.

My scar is also about that length but is at my hair line. I luckily do not have any pain anymore, just sometimes when I get up it stretches somewhat.

I am really struggling with Zarika in the evening. Eve - I can so relate to your situation. When she wakes up I change her nappy but then she starts crying and when I clean the cord she is lifting the roof. So then I put her on the boob and most of the time she drinks until she falls asleep. But when I put her down she wakes up. So then I try to get her back to sleep and sometimes she will needs another nappy change by this time or she brings up her milk and I need to dress her again and once again she cries. It takes me about 2-3 hours from when she wakes up initially to get her back to sleep. Luckily she only wakes up once in the evening. Is this normal? She is also 2 weeks old and I don't know if it is a growth spurt or what. She sleeps fine in the day without having to be rocked to sleep. Also, what gets to me sometimes I struggle to get her to go to sleep but when hubby takes her or my mother takes her she fells asleep almost immediately. That makes me feel like a bad mommy :(

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Ladies,

Ronel - my dr said 2 weeks, but I drove myself the 1km down the road to go for laser - can't think that that would do any harm. My dad, on the other hand, reckons I can drive, no problem. But I'll stick to 2 weeks...

I took my plaster off last night and had a long soak in the bath. It was magical.

Alex slept from 11pm until 6.40am on Tuesday night, but he repaid me by not wanting to sleep AT ALL yesterday afternoon. I was feeding him basically every 1.5hours and rocking him in between. He was so overtired, but couldn't sleep - reckon it's still the growth spurt and then catching up on the feed he missed for sleeping through. Last night, I'm sure he would've slept through again, but I woke him up at 2am for a quick boob, burp and change and then he slept again until 7. I'll see if that makes a difference in his routine today.

I can't believe his 10 days old already. A friend of mine came and showed me how to work out winds and cramps if it starts bothering him hectically. You basically take his leg and push it back into his stomach when it's bent at the knee. This helps work the winds out. Do one leg at a time. Also, you can massage their little stomachs - always clockwise (as this is the way the intestines work) and in a circle starting at the top of the stomach under the rib cage to under the belly buttom.

Her little girl had terrible reflux and she tried every trick in the book. She went to a chiropractor who had to align Ana's back. Apparently this is common for c-sect babies. She said that he hung Ana upside down and her neck tilted to the one side, and then with 4 sessions realigned her spine. Anyway...sounds flippen hectic, but she said that after that, the reflux stopped.

So glad I went for the laser - my boobs would never have been able to handle this growth spurt otherwise. It's still painful when he latches, but after that it's fine. I'm taking painkiller still for the c-sect, and that's helping too.

My scar is quite long, about 12 cms. To me it seems a bit high, but it's much thinner than I thought it was going to be.

eve- are u using waterproofs over your nappies?

alex - you are right your body wont give u something u cant handle remember only head circumfrance counts the rest streamlines :)

simone - grrrrrrrrr on your boss milking u :(

ladies remember the hunger warning sounds about 10min before next feed they start grunting(sounds like clearing throat) if u pick up then most crying and waking is avoided

as for nappy change - do it before and when done while in slumber wont wake

i also never do night time burps unless they are uncomfortable -it also wakes them so maybe try feeding and putting down (rather drop some telament drops before feed, will fall asleep on milk then lie down if u worried over wind then put the warm bean bag on top of them - obviously if they wake or dont settle then burp :)

also if night time feeds get too much and they wake from nappy change - u can skip a change every 2nd nappy i only change at 7(bath) skip 10 nappy change at 1 skip 4 nappy then change at 7 - when they this small the nappies dont touch their skin yet and then atleast u stretch the slumber state - obviously at 1st sign of eina boude go back to change every feed :)

Thanks Lucy - so on average Connor should be having about 60mls for 8 feeds a day :) Which is roughly what he is drinking.

Thanks

Hey Eve - check with your Paed re: how to work out the amount Connor must drink each day. The formula I posted earlier was given to me by both the Paed and the Clinic Nurse and they said I must follow that. So at 4kg London is eating the same amount per day as Connor.

Also I heard the BCG Injection point gets actually quite gross and stays for a few months and that you are right - it must be left completely alone... oi vei!

Skyler - gosh London is going through his 3 week spurt - HELP!!! He slept a total of 1h30min today and that was broken up through the day! Thanks for the advice on changing before and not towards end of feed.... cause I have been doing that and NOT WINNING! So will retry!

Also about expressing - apparently you express LESS than how much a Baby can suck out of you. So if you express 50ml then he is def getting more than that!

SimoneK - Goodluck for tomorrow my girl!!!

Thanks Skyler

I'm starting to hear that this 2 week fuss period is normal - thank goodness!

Vacs - Also heard (nurses don't tell you) but that after 2 - 3 weeks, the vac shot that they had while in hospital starts to flare up on their arm and puss but we mustn't try clean it because it's normal. Connor's hasn't flared up yet but just for other new moms - watch out for it but don't clean it.

Nappies - I just re-read the website and they say I must put a double cloth nappy in at night time so will try that tonight. Not sure how it will work because one cloth nappy is already so bulky and his newborn vest just manages to close over it.
