Newborn and baby advice

Hey

Sorry so quiet been busy with studies. DRiving lessons have been going well, just stupid me left my learners in the car so I cant practice until the instructor drops it off. Hopefully tomorrow then I will get hubby to take me driving every night.

I have news. G rolled for the first time today from back to tummy and then back again. And I gave him his first finger biscuit.

How do you help baby to practice sitting? Do you put the legs a certain way or am I looking into this too much?

Scribbling how are the solids going?

Bleh back to the studies. Its not going well this year at all. Need more motivation, even yesterday hubby took G and I ended up checking on them and taking G to play.

Jacadebra, how's Lia going on the BLW veggies? Do you find that it works better than the mashed ones? And how much of it is undigested at the end point? I know that there is supposed to be some undigested stuff but was just curious as to how much. Did she choke at all in the beginning?

Beansmom, re the weaning, Emily's doing the same thing as Tayla. I also feel quite sad about it - I've had a love/hate relationship with breastfeeding since the start and it's really been an issue. So on the one hand it will be a relief to have her weaned off me but on the other hand I'm going to miss it. She also feeds well in the early morning. I think it's when she needs to be comforted.

Shout if you need any advice on pitching ideas - or even if you want me to edit anything for you. I've been in the industry for a while now so if there's any way I can help please just let me know.

Desiree, are you all packed for your holiday? When do you leave?

Claudia_B, at least he's over the worst. I agree, ringworm is pretty gross - but real worms are worse!!! And everything's going into the mouth at this point. Can you deworm babies? Anyone know?

@ ClaudiaB - we are opening an account for Tayla and saving it for her. Might use some of it for things for her... clothes etc now that I have no job... but the bulk will be saved for when she is a little older to either use for studies or whatever it is she eventually decides to do

Someone askes earlier about "Swedes" - swedes are turnips as far as i know.. a good combo is swede and carrots...

@ Scribblingal - its been going around. A couple of babies have had it in the hospital that I work, so maybe I passed it on to him. I dont think its too serious, and he barely had a fever, so aside from being covered in spots he is fine. The paediatrician wasnt too concerned, although he stops me everymorning at work now to ask how far the rash has spread:) Last week he had what I thought was a nasty cold, but I managed okay with panado and breastfeeding more (to keep him well hydrated) His chest was completely clear, it was more upper respiratory. Maybe because I'm still bf he didnt get worse?? I dont know.

The ringworm has gone completely. To be honest that stressed me out a lot more because its just pretty gross:) Its not like I let the dogs near him....

Beansmom what are you going to do with the money that the casting brings in?

@ Scribblingal... re the weening off the breast... she would feed well at night/early morning, but the rest of the day she would either suck for a couple of minutes then scream her head off until we gave her a bottle or point blank refuse the boob! Also when she did feed during the day without a fight she wouldn't feed enough and be hungry again soon after... so at 4 months we decided to ease the stress on me and her with the fighting all day - we just moved across to formula but mixed it with my breastmilk that I had expressed and froze. That lasted for about another half a month and then all the frozen milk was finished... expressing only got 50 ml at a time... so hubby just said enough is enough... I'm glad it happened that way... and i didn't end up with a fight for her to move over to formula... I felt quite sad the day it all stopped - like I had failed, but as the breastfeeding clinic said, at least I gave her a good start... 4 months of breastfeeding is not bad!

So now she has had squash, butternut and pear... over the weekend we are trying potato... She really loves squashie and pear... butternut only if it is mixed with rice cereal...

We took her for her second casting today... really holding thumbs she gets it... if they pick her for the full thing she'll earn roughly R9000.... think she might be paying mommy management fees soon

Oh no Claudia_B, how the hell did James get roseola? Isn't that quite serious? How's the ringworm going? I was thinking about deworming the dogs (while we're on the topic), as they are becoming quite interested in Emily and vice versa. Saw the one licking her face the other day.

I've also been exhausted thanks to Madam's erratic sleeping patterns and penchant for a 1am wake-up call. Have a nice version of Mount Everest on my lip to prove it! Damn coldsores!
