Newborn and baby advice

Hi you all!

@Bronz - Remember that they go through a VERY big growth spurt at 4 months and believe me, it is not necessarily 4 months on the dot, can be before or little bit after!! Karla was very hectic!!

Well ladies Karla is officially sitting!!! I am so proud of my little girl, yesterday she still fell over after like a second or 2 but today she sat a lot of times for longer periods all on her own!! I will post a photo of her sitting.

She was so good with the eating solids thing, and now suddenly she refuses to eat anything and wakes up like 4 times at night!!! I phoned the clinic sister and she told me to not feed her everytime she wakes up (apparently they can stay without a feed for 12 hours) because she makes herself full and then obviously the next day she doesn't want to eat any solids... So now we'll try it tonight, gonna be a looooooong night!! I will only feed her at like 4ish...

She recently started putting her feet in her mouth and then sucking her toe... will post a photo of that as well.

@ScribblingAl and Desiree - Do you know what is a 'swede'? and where do you get it? (They mention it for the sweet vegetable medley in Annabel Karmel's book...) Oh yes, and where do you get a parsnip?

It's all up to your gut feeling.
I had a big girl so we started solids 'early' at 4 months, but I was reluctant.
Have you got a clinic sister you can chat to? Often they have some helpful advice as they've dealt with so many mommies and babies.

The sleep therapist said that she recommends solids from around 7kg onwards, as did my doctor and clinic sister, but I was ready as formula wasn't filling her for more than 2 hours at a time.

Does he take a dummy? Maybe he just like to cluster feed in the day - how's he sleeping at night?

Still not so keen on doing solids full time. Dont think he is ready. hmmm.

I have no idea how often James feeds, but to be honest he suckles regularly propbably more often than 2 hourly. Most of the time its just short sucks, so I dont think he is doing it for food, but rather either to calm him or maybe because he is thirsty? (its been really hot of late). I've decided I'm a baby led mommy:) (One of the blogs I follow on twitter), because I've taken the path of least resistance. I know that yesterday G held you hostage, Ive had that a few times (usually only when he has become so overtired that its impossible to get him down), so For half an hour I play with the applications on my iphone:) I guess I'm just happy that I can be with him, and still work a bit wothout having to tie myself down 9-5:)"

I am going to do this approach. I am at home so take advantage of it. I think I will also leave the sleep fight for now. Cant be with out sleep right now with exams coming up. So will just ensure he is in his cot for the first bit of the night.

He held me hostage again today, then I stick him in our bed and he slept for about an hour and then for a further hour on me. haha. I love it, just dont get any studying done then.

How old is G? Perhaps it's just a growth spurt, but perhaps it could be time for solids. What's your gut feeling?

This may sound a bit odd, but yesterday I realised G is now feeding 2 hourly. I think the feeds have been slowly getting closer together. Any ideas on why he might be feeding more frequently? (Not solids time is it?)

@claudia: I did after I put it up here, dont know if I will be in the running to win though. I won the cutlery set. G had managed to pull handfulls of grass out too.

I didnt know they could get that from dogs. interesting.

@ Bronz, I hope you enter the grass pic in the zoobies compo:) James loves this bush outside our front door. He pulled most of the leaves off of it:)

Been really busy at work this week, want a holiday! December cant come soon enough!

James picked up a ringworm on his neck (not actuall a worm, its a fungus), so have a antifungal cream that he gets put on twice a day. Rather disturbing, but the clinic sister reckons its probably from my dogs. I love my dogs, but seriously wish I could disinfect them at the moment:)
