Naomi- my DH is also funny, if I seem to breath too deeply or clutch my tummy he asks if I am ok. At least we know they love and care.

Hi guys

been a while...

Juandre, sorry about your collegue
Welcome to everyone who's just found us...

Oh Ash, I wish I could go home for 2 months and spend time with my mom in the platteland! But I don't think DH would vope that long with our son, so I'll only go to my mom's for about 2 weeks.THe interview was this morning, it went great, I think. The people interviewing me didn't really talk much about the pregnancy, the guy just said, "I realise that you are pregnant but it is much more important to find the right person for the job, rather than rush to fill the position. It was a loooong interview, so we'll see.

I have been getting serious "practice contractions" (braxton hicks) lately, and DH panicks and wants to take me to hospital everytime it happens...*sigh*

Let me catch up on everyone's news...

Jo- the only concern is that it contains high levels of caffine which is not recommended when you breastfeed as it does tend to irritate baby.

I know that they say you need not cut out any food when breastfeeding unless you notice it upsets baby but caffine is something that you should really avoid!

Juandre - When my mom told me, I just shook my head and rolled my eyes. Like people have nothing better to do than speculate on the state of my marriage. Imagine baby comes out looking nothing like either me or hubby. Like with red hair or something, then everyone will be like "ja... see... told you... and he is such a great guy he'll take her back and raise the child as his own" IMAGINE!!!! Shew thats not even funny.

OK so you know alot about green tea girl! Any opinion on it during breast feeding?

Ashbabe- this is what I found:
The first thing that you needs to be borne in mind is that Green Tea does, in fact, contain a significant amount of caffeine which can have an adverse effect. Generally speaking, pregnant women should avoid excessive amounts of caffeine during pregnancy.

Nevertheless, Green Tea does, in fact, have a large number healing properties and applications that can greatly help pregnant women including anxiety (that is frequently present in women during pregnancy) and green tea during pregnancy can also help with gestational diabetes (which is one of many unfortunate side effects for some pregnant women).

If you are after a great Green Tea product to take during pregnancy there are many Green Tea products for you to choose from. People from the East have been drinking Green Tea for centuries and the benefits of drinking Green Tea is now common knowledge all over the world. Now that these health benefits of Green Tea are becoming more clear and Green Tea is becoming more popular there is almost a gluttany of Green Tea products on the markets for consumers to choose from.

Some medical practitioners have expressed concern that Green Tea may affect a woman's folate levels. As folic acid is a very essential nutrient during pregnancy this is an important matter and should be borne in mind when considering green tea during pregnancy. Furthermore, one study has linked some neural tube defects in babies to women drinking excessive amounts of Green Tea at approximately the time of conception.

There are other benefits for women taking green tea during pregnancy and that is the impact that green tea has on its ability to not only burn more fat but to help women lose and maintain a certain amount of weight.

Ash - We can relate, we have a similar situation, just not as far and not as long. We moved to Cape Town 3 years ago and hubby's family followed within a year. My family have lives and jobs etc and stayed in pretoria. So in December I LOVE going and hubby feels like its no longer part of him. Me on the other hand have my mom, my sister, all my friends and 30 years of my life there, so I take my son and we go for 2 weeks before my hubby joins us for a week. Like I said, i know its not as far, or as long, but I also get looks from some of the family and friends (here and there), like hubby and I are having relationship trouble cause we are not holidaying together and I get so irratated!! But anyway, over the last 3 years, most seem to have gotten used to the idea and I plan to do it again this year, with baba and maybe for longer too. Last year was bad though, cos I flew out of the house in such a hurry to catch our flight, that I ended up leaving the house without my wedding ring, 2 weeks in pretoria with my son, no wedding ring and a new baby in my tummy definately got some tongues wagging (so my mom says)
