Claire as far as I know is that dh's work is with discovery and all we need to do is fill in papers and they do the rest. So I really don't know what's what...I'm also just hoping we don't have any waiting periods...

Angi - I am complicated - yes Altron administered by Discovery so I can answer to the best of my ability...

to answer your questions though:

they only pay 281 of my 440 visit for gynae bloodwork - I have never paid in even for the genetic testing last year at about 4000.

discovery vitality thing - it is worth it in the end and not that expensive.

birth or do you have to pay in - Altron covers c-sections - elective or not. to answer your paying in question - are you going through a broker at dh's work? if you are please get "gap" cover through stratum. It covers the difference between medical aid rate and what the doctor actually charges (up to 500%) you have to pay upfront and then you claim back but you get your money's worth for in-hospital procedures.. ClaireC you are with discovery med aid if remember correctly, are they paying for all the gynea visits and blood work not to mention birth or do you have to pay in...sorry for asking but I want to know what I'm letting myself in for when we change over....o yes is it worth it to do the discovery vitality thing...sorry for all questions...

Debbie - aw so sorry man, I hope doc gives you a good POA. I understand completely - I had 4 m/c's with no good reason so this pregnancy dh has injected me to prevent blood clots which they only suspect was the cause for mine and it has worked on sheer guessing. it is extremely frustrating but have faith - you will get your well deserved baba very soon.
