Morning ladies from a very hot office (again!)

My colleague went to buy herself a desk fan, so I asked her to bring me one too - I'm not going to make it through the next 3 months if it continues to be this hot! Come on rain already!!

Last night hubby and I went to Canal Walk for some shopping and lovely sushi. I got my firsrt pair of maternity pants (shorts) from Woollies, so I'm wearing them today - quite comfortable I must say, just have to get used to this ribbing waist which feels like it wants to fall off. :) But it sure is nice not to feel like baby is being squashed all the time.

Meags I must say that it still feels very unreal that I'm actually going to have a baby most of the time. I'm waiting for our friends to let us know when we can fetch the cot and compactum. Maybe once we have that and start to do the baby room it will feel more real.

DH and I decided to have a combined baby shower and birthday bash for me on the 26th, but then my friend asked who was organising it and I said my sister. Then my sister said I'm making it difficult for them to surprise them :), so then I decided that it might be a bit much to have the 2 things combined and told her she can arrange it any time she wants. I just hope they do it soon, because we've been holding off on buying anything until we've had the shower.

Hope you all have a lovely day - even those of you here in very hot CT!

Morning Girls

Think this heat has finially got to me.

I feel so ill. Have drunk 2 glasses of water already at my desk and just feel like I want to vomit. My boss gets in at about 10 so I will see how I feel, may ask to go home at luinch time.

I think a lot of people are still on leave as the office is so quite adn a lot of our clients still on holiday.

Baby has had hiccups all morning. Was thinking now I may feel sick as had cereal for breakfast - trying to get away from eating so much bread. Maybe I had to much milk as i also had a nesquick with it!!

Faw - I am so happy that you are getting spoilt by everybody with baby things! Hope that your dad gets to finish his boat - it may mtavate him to a quicker recovery!!

Meags - yay that DH can send internatinal sms!! I know that it is to late toorganise now, but th best thing is to each get a blackberry. That way you can use blackberry messenger (free!!!!) anywhere in teh world. It is so great. I am "sms"ing my friend in the USA all day (she is due any day now) and my sister in dublin etc. The only cost I have is the R59 a month fro the internet browsing on my phone (unlimited). It may be something to look into fro the future if DH will be doing lotsa travel. It works instant like sms.

AFM - we started to paint the nursery last nigh!!! :P It all seems very very real all of a sudden....we should have te hpainting finished by end week and then I can move all the goodies in over the weekend. In this weather at least t he paint drys very fast!

My next appointment is Monday....cant wait. And I think while we are there I will also book the hopsital tour. Sometimes men can be a bit strange. When I was talking to DH about the tour he asked me why we needed to go???!!!

I must also I think start reading up on CS. I am so adamint taht i want a natrual birth, but I did fracture my pelvis when I was about 22 and the gynae said that he will not be able to tell if this will affacet the birth until I go into labour. I really hope it does not! My hips are also doubvle jointed, so not sure if that plays a positive or negitive role!

Think may also treat myself to a 4d scan next week...will see after doc appointment if get no nice piccys there!

To those still on leave, enjoy teh last few days of it...to those on holiday hope the weather is treating you well....and to those of you in CT...............................................drink loadsof water....................and thibnk of SUnday, when we are due some rain!

hi everyone!

Being at work again really sucks balls!!!! (sorry  ) But I guess I'll have to get used to it again for a while before I go on ML at 39 weeks (until Aug).

Riley has also been very quiet lately - so much so that when he does move around I'm surprised everytime! But let me eat a peanut butter sarmie with a cup of coffee & he goes bananas! LOL

Its been pissing in Pretoria the last week or so. WOW I'm not complaining about the rain - its fabulous and the country needs every drop it can get but perhaps we could send some to where its needed?

Bryce is also back to school since yesterday and its tears again every morning - ai man it just breaks my heart! But I know that within a minute when I'm out of eyesight he stops - he knows how to manipulate when the need arises!

My folks have gone away to the Cape for a holiday, my younger brother & his fiance tagging along. But they'll be gone till the 16th meaning that no one will be here for my birthday next friday. Its my 30th birthday on the 14th so my mom has booked a flight back home on the day so she can spend it with me and we can go out for dinner that evening - I thought that is just so nice of her. My dad & brother only get back LATE saturday night so I'll only see them the sunday.

So who all is coming to the meet next saturday from our group?

Meags, its great that you guys can atleast communicate during the day / night with sms also!! Must be a huge relief for you :) Glad you had a fun day.. maybe your little guy is just resting after the holiday. When is your next gynae appointment? Ok I wont be lazy and will go check the list now ;) As long as you are still feeling movement.. maybe he is also just lying differently and will soon move again :) Seems like our sons are real little rascals doing all kinda funny movements at odd times just to make us worry! I mean can you believe that mine turned 180 and back within 24hrs!! But she dr who did the scan today said that there is plenty of fluid and that makes it easy for him to still turn around and he might even do so until 37wks!!

Lucy, like Tazzy said the hiccups are like tiny little kicks or thumps but they are like repeat thump thump thump for quite some time. Sometimes it feels like forever and you cant miss it! Thats why i know I didnt dream it because I was lying awake waiting for it to stop! You feel it better if you have your hand over the area where the thumps are.. and thats where your little baba's face will be :) The weird thing about them is when baby's head is down and you sit on your bum, you can actually feel the beats through your bum :) LOL

Faw, sounds asif things are really going great on that side!! Cant believe how blessed you guys have been with all the goodies you have received.. its so wonderful! How great that you dont even have to worry about needing anymore stuff for your little baba :) Shame, I really also pray that your dad will get better and heal enough to finish his boat.

Oh and Tazzy, I checked on that website that Meags posted a while ago with the fetal weights and 1.7kg is a very average weight so Im happy! I also checked in my book now and saw that at 32wks 2days my son was 1.8kg already so this one has slowed down again after last month's growth spurt! But there is a serious one coming up as I see he was 2.8kg at 36wks!! Thats a whole 1kg in a months time! I think Im going to have to take a lot of afternoon naps this month ;)

hi ladies

Faw - I really hope your dad gets better and can finish his boat.
And I hope your company will take you on for another 6 weeks.
How lovely to have all those items given to you for your children! Really a blessing :)

Lucy, Matthieu gets hiccups a lot. They say babies either get them often or not at all. For me, it's like constant twitches/kicks, spaced evenly apart for anything from 1 minute to 5 minutes. It's lighter than kicks though

Kimika glad your scan was good and that baby is head down again!! nice weight :) they say you can double the weight at 32 weeks to estimate birth weight...so nice size for you!

Well DH called...and then the line went dead! He smsed to say when he tried to call back, it said his credit limit had been reached!!!!!!!!!!! I really hope that is not the case because that means he wont be able to call anymore!!! And i cant afford to call him off my cell all the time either.

Hi girls,

Sorry I have been missing in action again. I have been extremely busy with work. I have been working very long hours… up to 14 hours a day. And heck its been bloody f@king hot, excuse the language. I have been working out in the road a lot in the heat under an umbrella and been drinking up to 5 litres in 9 hours and then running to the toilet. Ha ha ha. I still love my job though. My contract expires end of the month, but I have to go speak to them and see if they won’t take me on for an extra 6 weeks or so as I want to work til I give birth.

I have managed to get a booking in at False Bay Hospital on Monday and I pray that I get in. If I don’t I have an appointment at Mowbray Semi private to do the birth with the midwives there, but at a cost of R5500, which isn’t bad.

My feet are swelling more and more every day but I try soak them when I get a chance or put them up. Yesterday it got to the point of almost not being able to walk, but my blood pressure has been low again. Thank heavens my parents have a bp machine and I am able to check it whenever I want. My pulse averages around 109 beats per minute. Baby has been kicking up a storm and often leaves me nauseous. With my first one the placenta was in the front so I didn’t feel much, but this time its on the back and I feel the difference. I am carrying much bigger now and am 29 weeks and 1 day or something, I forget and I am too tired to try work it out.

My husband calls me once a week these days, but I have no desire to go back there. Some of my moms friends and our family have got together and I almost everything that I need for the new baby and I have a lot of things for my son as well. We have been given a double pushchair, a high chair, a play pen, a baby bath, a car seat, a thing to change the baby on, puzzles, shoes and lots of clothing and blankets etc. My current manager has told me that she also has a lot of clothing for me. She was over the moon when I told her I was pregnant and offered me all her things there and then already. I should have that stuff by the end of the month. I believe if I wasn’t given all this then I wasn’t meant to be here in Cape Town. I have all my son’s things up with my husband and refuse at this stage to go up or get anyone to collect the stuff.

My dad is not doing very well. At the moment they are flushing his system out because the nursing staff damaged his urethra and he lost a lot of blood. He is battling with the therapy and has a lot of spasms. He also tried to get out of bed last night and they have restrained him to his bed. He was so bad today that they didn’t do any physio today. They want us for a family meeting next week which I guess will be a reality check for us. I am praying that he will recover enough to complete his sailing boat. He did the original plans nearly 40 years ago and started building it when my mom was pregnant with me. Its been his life long dream to finish it and go sailing. He hasn’t ever really had anyone to help him build it except for someone who sanded the outside once and my mom who helped a lot when she could. All that needs to be done now is the final parts of the engine need to be put in. He bought a second hand engine and got someone to help him recondition it. Once the engine is complete he can get his safety certificate and go sailing. Its so close to completion and nothing would make me happier than for him to be able to complete it. My Aunt is trying to stick her nose where its not wanted and wants to take over my dads boat and complete it for him and my brother, mom and I have all put our feet down and told her in a nice way to take a hike.

I have not had a chance to read your messages, but will do so and then reply if I have anything to add.

Hugs
