Schatsie, did you go for the bloods or not? They need to take everything into consideration before they can determine the risk. Did the gynae look at the nose bridge at all? They recently changed the limit from 3.5mm to 3mm, don't know where your gynae got the 1.7? Remember that a lot of "normal" babies also have wider nuchal folds. What I want to say is, if you haven't had the bloods, contact your gynae ASAP as it needs to be done within 24 hours of the nuchal fold measurement. And only after determining your risk must you even start stressing. And remember, they get a lot of false positives.

hello almal! (LOL Hello everyone!)

a BIG BIG Welcome to all the new ladies on the block! (although sometimes it might feel like a "chopping block")

schatsie - sorry about you having such a rough time right now! Will keep you in my thoughts & prayers that everything turns out OK. My neighbour is also preggies with her 2nd one, she's now 35. Her bloods came back that there was a 1 in 10 chance of Downs, she did her Amnio and it came back that everything is OK. I'm sure it will be the same for you - stay positive & keep praying.

I believe I'm officially past the halfway mark now! wooohooo!!! This pregnancy is really going fast!

Argh no Schatsie. That's not good. Is he not sending you for bloods? When I had my 12 week scan, the sonographer took all the necessary measurements and filled it out on a form and I had to take that form to Lancet, where they took blood to combine the results to get the Downs results. Can you only do the amnio from 16 weeks onwards? Oh shame man. Thinking of you.

EmsMom - hope you get better soon. Yay on the dream!

Schatsie, I'm so sorry to hear that. Did you go for bloods already??
My Dr told me anything over 3.5mm is a worry.

Stay strong and remember we are here for you.

Hey girls

I'm really not having a good week. First the bleeding (thank goodness it seems to be completely gone now) and just came back from the 13 wk scan for the Downs and the Dr said the nuchal fold is 3mm, where it is supposed to be max 1.7mm. This means we have to go for the amniocentesis, but we have to wait another 3 weeks for that!

I have no idea how I'm going to get through these 3 weeks!

Oh and we also couldn't see the the gender, although at one stage she said it looked like a LB.

PS: Betty_F, we have the same due date! :)

Morning my lovely ladies!

how are you all today??

Lucy, that must have beeen such a shock! I can understand your feeling of loss. But I must say I had a good giggle as well. Now I'm extra glad that that I'm not finding out the sex, at least the dr cant make a mistake when the baby is out :)
But as a mom of a girl I'll tell you now, girls are the most wonderful blessings in the world :)

Kaylae - good luck for DH's interview! Please let us know how is goes?

Joli!! Hald way there!! WOW!! I can't wait for that mark!

Betty and bronwyn a huge welcome, I'm loving that there are so many of us due together!

Meags, hows it going with mom? I'm sure you are having lots of fun.

AFM, I'm still sick, but mentally on top of the world. Had the most amazing dream last night that I was in labour, but with no pain at all - I even asked the Dr to check I was actually dialating cause I wasn't feeling anything. Then I went for a walk and a swim, and had to go to the loo and could feel the babies head, so my mom took me to my birthing room and I prepared to push. Sadly thats when I woke up.

My folks are taking Em for the night tonight, so I'll get to bed early. Was meant to go to a party, but DH will go alone and I can sleep :)
Tomorrow is a hecit day for us, so need all the rest I can get.

Anyways, hugs and kisses to you all! Hope you have a fantastic friday!

Kaylae - you are lucky not to gain. I gain weight very fast, so that's why I'm so careful. But I only picked up 10kg with Kayla, but never lost it all again, then again picked up 9 / 10kg with Megan. I now weight the same than what I weight the day Kayla was born!
