Helloo!!

Mistymom, enjoy your day home.. hope the ms treats you a bit better today! If you have no appetite maybe treat yourself to a healthy smoothie somewhere? Or go buy something yummy from woolies... I find buying something a bit more appetising than having to prepare it!

Meags, ahh why do you have a runny tummy?? Bug or bad food?? Hope its better!!

Jikes, why do you always have these difficult situations you need advise for? ;) hehe.. If it was me .. argh I dont even know :P Just support her and let her know that she has your support and if she pulls out now she wont be alone. Being single is way better than getting married to the wrong person! She will cause herself a little bit of stress and heartache now but saves years of misery. Good luck!

Oo Lucy, guess who I saw today!! (ok your prob away on business but incase your read) Remember earlier this year I had that *tiff* with a lady in the bank about her attacking me because my son's blankie was over his face?? Well I saw her again today, at the same centre, going into the same bank! LOL I saw her and smiled and as my smile formed I realised who she was and just walked past without looking back!! Can you imagine.. last time I was on PMS hormones.. this time Ill be on preggie hormones!!! grrr

Shols, have a great scan day!!!!!

So today Im drawing up a list of what I will need for new baby as well as what I would need for the boy's room. Eina.. but I want to budget now so we know what to save so we can finish everything sometime in Jan/Feb. Ill do the smaller things now.. I was just wondering, since they have to share a room, is it ok to buy a normal single bed for my son or is it just better to buy a 3/4 bed?? One of us will prob end up sleeping with him some nights as he would barely be 2yrs old when new baby comes!

Being a mother

We are sitting at lunch when my daughter casually mentions that she and her husband are thinking of 'starting a family.'
'We're taking a survey,' she says, half-joking. 'Do you think I should have a baby?'

'It will change your life,' I say, carefully keeping my tone neutral.
'I know,' she says, 'no more sleeping in on weekends, no more spontaneous vacations....' But that is not what I meant at all.

I look at my daughter, trying to decide what to tell her. I want her to know what she will never learn in childbirth classes. I want to tell her that the physical wounds of child bearing will heal, but that becoming a mother will leave her with an emotional wound so raw that she will forever be vulnerable.
I consider warning her that she will never again read a newspaper
without asking 'What if that had been MY child?' That every plane crash, every house fire will haunt her. That when she sees
pictures of starving children, she will wonder if anything could be worse than watching your child die.

I look at her carefully manicured nails and stylish suit and think that no matter how sophisticated she is, becoming a mother will reduce her to primitive level of a bear protecting her cub.

That an urgent call of 'Mom!' will cause her to drop a soufflé or her best crystal without a moment's hesitation. I feel I should warn her that no matter how many years she has invested in her career, she will be professionally derailed by motherhood.

She might arrange for child care but one day she will be going into an important business meeting and she will think of her baby's sweet smell. She will have to use every ounce of her discipline to keep her from running home, just to make sure her baby is all right.

I want my daughter to know that everyday decisions will no longer be routine. That a five year old boy's desire to go to the men's room rather than the women's at McDonald's will become a major dilemma. That right there, in the midst of clattering trays and screaming children, issues of independence and gender identity will be weighed against the prospect that a child molester may be lurking in that rest-room.

However she may be at the office, she will second-guess herself
constantly as a mother. Looking at my attractive daughter, I want to assure her that eventually she will shed the pounds of pregnancy, but she will never feel the same about herself.

That her life, now so important, will be of less value to her once she has a child. That she would give it up in a moment to save her offspring, but will also begin to hope for more years - not to accomplish her own dreams, but to watch her child accomplish theirs.

I want her to know that a Cesarean scar or shiny stretch marks will
become badges of honor. My daughter's relationship with her husband will change, but not in the way she thinks..
I wish she could understand how much more you can love a man who is careful to powder the baby or who never hesitates to play with his child. I think she should know that she will fall in love with him again for reasons she would now find very unromantic.

I wish my daughter could sense the bond she will feel with women throughout history who have tried to stop war, prejudice and
drunk driving. I hope she will understand why I can think rationally
about most issues, but become temporarily insane when I discuss the threat of nuclear war to my children's future.

I want to describe to my daughter the exhilaration of seeing your child learn to ride a bike.

I want to capture for her the belly laugh of a baby who is touching the soft fur of a dog or a cat for the first time.

I want her to taste the joy that is so real, it actually hurts.
My daughter's quizzical look makes me realize that tears have
formed in my eyes. 'You'll never regret it,' I finally say.

Then I reach across the table, squeeze my daughter's hand and offer a silent prayer for her, and for me, and for all of the mere mortal women who stumble their way into this most wonderful of callings.

This blessed gift from God!

Hi ladies
ok my internet is allowing me on!! so let me try make the most of it although hardly anyone has posted today!!

MistyMom, I dont really know what to suggest. Are you taking Vomifene? Perhaps you should just take it before going to sleep and when waking up. The only thing is, it can make you sleepy so maybe the morning dose isnt a good idea.

You can try eat toast with Bovril or peanut butter or even just dry toast. Just to get something in your system.
Marie biscuits? Ginger biscuits???
you really do need to eat something though or you need to call your gynae and perhaps go to casualty to be put onto a drip.

I have a complicated situation. my friend is getting married in february to an idiot. She knows he is wrong for her. she openly admits she could probably do better but doesnt want to risk breaking up and being on her own (she didnt have a boyfriend for 6 years before him and she's tried the dating sites with no luck).
she also admits that now she is going ahead with the wedding because she has already paid deposits.

this friend LOVES babies and on saturday her fiance got drunk and admitted he doesnt want kids as it's too much responsilibity and finances.
The next day he said maybe they can think about it in 2-3 years. I am sure he is saying this just to keep the peace.
My friend will be miserable in her life if he doesnt allow her to have kids.

He is also a drug addict (although she says he isnt anymore which I dont believe) and treats her like a slave. he puts her down a lot and whenever there is a 'romantic evening planned' he gets drunks, makes her cry and says mean things.

I cant see her do this to her life and I am thinking of emailing her sister to let her know what is going on and seeing if her and the dad cant speak to her and get her to be honest about things.
I just cant ignore this and let her ruin her life!!!!
My DH says I shouldnt get involved...but I am the only friend who knows how unhappy she is.

What do you ladies advise??
