Hi ladies
sorry Kimika I actually did want to reply before - I think it was you asking if we really have to immigrate?
well the short answer is....yes.
DH is with a french company and came to South Africa on contract and he works as an expat. So until we decide we want to settle somewhere, we will keep moving around every 2-3 years.
The pro's of us being expats:
- R12 000 to rent a house per month
- R9000 living allowance per month
- 20% extra on Dh's salary per month
- company car, cell phone and laptop
- They assist with all visa's, schooling of kids etc
- 3 return trips to Europe per year (for him - we use this for him and I and just pay for the return trip for me on the second visit)
con's:
- we basically need to go where ever they send us
- We have to pack and move every few years, leaving behind friends and family
- kids need to move schools (we will likely settle somewhere once kids are school age)
- immigration dates are not concrete and we just sit and wait to be told when to go
Miami is DEFINITELY by far the best choice for now. Before they wanted to send us to Dunkirk in France (cold, pensioners, no life), Ivory Coast (malaria area, poor western african country, unsafe) and Miami. So...we need to go to Miami!!!!!
And that's my explanation
Ange So happy to hear about your scan!!!!!!!!!! It sounds like it was such a cute and special scan to have

8 days until mine and it cant come sooner!
I am actually jealous of my friend who had her baby!!! I feel so impatient
As for what DH said....he said nothing!!!!! We went for lunch and sat in the smoking area

ok fine it was outside, but I really crapped out DH and said he could just go there to smoke and leave me in a safer environment...he is so selfish.
He says he'll stop smoking once baby is born. I said the following
"If you have not stopped smoking, I will sleep in the nursery with the baby because I don't want to just sit up for an hour every feed when I could be lying down sleeping. But the baby cant sleep in our bed if you are still smoking because cot death is increased by 40% if either parent smokes".
He just looked and me and said he'll stop smoking. I bet he wont.....
and just to say...I'm not really sure it is increased 40%...but I needed it to sound DRASTIC
