Cost of consult and delivery: R800 first consultation; R400 for every visit thereafter. (which I claimed a portion back from MA) Medical aid paid fully for the delivery!
Are your appointments mostly on time: Mostly yes
Does your caregiver fully support your choices: YES! Dr Davids is the best there is. They are also very pro natural.
Are Saturday appointments available: Yes but only at the M/Plain medical centre. But they are on call 24/7!!! Which I love.

Hospital: Kimberley Medi-Clinic
Medical aid rates: Above Medical Aid Rates but not too bad
Cost of consult and delivery: R650 first consultation; R420 for every visit thereafter.
C-Section delivery = never bothered to check as it was covered by MA
Are your appointments mostly on time: Longest I ever waited was 30 minutes
Does your caregiver fully support your choices: yes
Are Saturday appointments available: never tried.

I have now changed gynae's and am now with:

Male/Female: Male

Suburb: Observatory

Hospital: UCT private hospital - but he does deliveries at Kingsbury

Medical aid rates: He is on Discovery network, but I think the first appointment is a little over, but thereafter is covered

Cost of consultation and delivery: Initial was R1111 with the scan and assesments etc, thereafter was R450. For deilvery with my med aid (Discovery Coastal Saver) I need to pay in R1500 due before delivery he said.

Does caregiver support your birth choice: Yes, he is also for leaving c-sections up the 39th week unless you need it sooner for any medical reason

Appointments on time: Yes always, so far, also if we were there early we went in early too

Saturday appointments available: Yes

Cost of consult and delivery: R900 odd first consultation; R365 for every visit thereafter.
C-Section delivery = approx R7000 extra for an assistant.
Are your appointments mostly on time: Longest I ever waited was 20 minutes
Does your caregiver fully support your choices: He will but hes very old fashioned and strict and will tell you if he think you're being silly

Cost of consult and delivery: Not sure we pay cash for app which first with Gynae was R550 then R300 each ( had 3 so far all included scan) and R300 every time we see our Midwife , R7000 for delivery ( natural at the hospital in beautiful birthing unit with water birthing pool as well)

I can recommend Dr Wellensiek at Kingsway Hospital, I do believe he does Westville as well. He is amazing. I am on Discovery Medical aid and he IS CONTRACTED TO MEDICAL AID, which is very difficult to find. I cannot remember offhand how much it is for cash patients, but I have had friends go to him and it was reasonable. really worth looking into.
