Sorry Nicky you did not state which dr you are referring to .

Ladies this thread is to put info down on your own doctor. I realise that there are diffferent medical aids who cover differently so maybe state your medical aid and what they cover then too.

I also ask that we keep our opinions of other doctors to ourselves. We all have different opinions of doctors and my doctor may not be ideal for you.

Find it very hard to believe this is the same Dr we're talking about. I had a very bad experience with him and he does not take calls from his patients. Ask me I know out of personal experience even if its an EMERGENCY.

Was in severe pain at 5 months pregnant and was admitted in hospital. Took him over 6 hours to attend to me and his answer: "everything is ok" Bull@$%. 2 Hours after he does a sonar I give birth to a little "baby boy"at 5 months"

His reaction "Not sure what happened" For a Gynae and Obtrs. this was unacceptable. Also have been waiting for months for results after he took the "baby" for testing. Everytime I call his consulting rooms I am answered that "Dr is busy, he will call you back" Well its been over 3 months and I am still waiting for him to call me back.

I received no repsonse from his rooms nor was he at all helfpfull in acertaining the cause of my premature birth.

Thus I would not recommend him to anyone!

in response to your question re your friend having to pay in 10k. That probably has more to do with her medical aid and what they cover in hospital. The gynae bill is only a portion of the total cost of the stay. Ask your gynae reception for a break down of his cost for birth, and phone your medical aid to find out how much they cover for natural & c sec.

I think i have to pay my gynae 1500 as he charges 7000 and they would only cover 5400. Or something to that effect.

Hi there

Many of the gynaes at Panorama are contracted out. Dr Atzl who is my gynase charges slightly more but most of my claims were covered apart from the birth where I had to pay in 1600 I think.

I'm currently with Dr Christie van Wyk at Panorama, but heard this weekend that he is EXTREMELY expensive and that someone had to pay in R10000 which was not covered my medical aid for the birth.

Has anyone had a similar experience with him and/or does anyone know of another gynae at Panorama who is contracted in to medical aid?
