HOW SOON COULD DR TELL THE SEX OF BABY?????

So, I went for my scan yesterday. Was 18 weeks exactly.

And it's a BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was (AM???) really surprised. Was thinking it was a girl.

Needless to say Hubby is ecstatic about his "mini-me".

Vix you are so lucky. I had dreamt of having twin boys
but we are having another girl.

I was told at the 12weeks fetal assessment that I will be
having another girl and I was crushed. I am now over it and
happy to be having a healthy little girl.

With my son we did the Fetal assesement scan at 12wks 5 days and was told it was going to be a boy. It was

Now with this little one we did the scan at 12wks 1 day and gynae said 60% possibility of a girl. So we are a little sceptical.. will have to wait until 16wks.

But the curiosity is killing me!!!!! Ive googled sonar images of girls and boys at 12wks and found it quite difficult to tell. They always determine gender from 2d scans and at that early on they do not look at the *toilet seat* view. They view from the side of baby and can then determine the angle of the little goodie sticking out. 30degree angle is boy, anything below that is a girl. But I tried looking at my scan image and its almost impossible to tell!! So Im just gonna wait it out

I went to Kingsbury and used Dr Shannon Morris for all three pregnancies. At the 12/13 week scan she knew each time. She was able to tell at 12 weeks 3/4 days on all three of them.

1st boy, 2nd girl, 3rd girl. She did not hesitate each in case, she literally scanned over the area, and when I said "do you know" she always said "yes."

She knew with certainty each time. I asked in each case, is there any room for error, should I leave a percentage of "let's wait for the 20 week scan" and she looked at me like I insulted her mother.

She knew in each case. When ever I got back to my OBGYN he never appeared surprised, though I never asked him at the time to "sex" the baby.

Obviously I confirmed it at the 20 week scan - "so, is it still a boy/girl?"

I am not sure if in all cases an OGBYN who scans in his rooms can see, but if your scan at a fetal assessment centre is being done by an experienced specialist they should be able to tell.

However, Dr Morris is a bit of a legend, so she knows stuff that maybe other doctors/scanner operators do not always know. She is very experienced.
