Well baby didn't want to really show his face either He was also tucking into the placenta and was holding his hands and umbilical cord infront of his face... So I understand why you were disappointed GML. It was great to see him but I left wanting to see more.

I can't load pics yet because my laptop doesn't have a CD Rom so hubby has taken the disk to work and will HOPEFULLY email some pics to me later.

I forgot to mention that this new gynae said the baby is due on the 9th November. I nearly fainted.

Until hubby told him that he thinks he got my Last period date wrong. He wrote there 2 feb and it's actually 22 feb.

He then said the scan will tell us the date. The scan said the baby is due on the 16th of December.

Then eventually after measuring and measuring he said I'm 30 weeks pregnant today and the baby is due on the 8/9th December.

What a relief.

The lady said that we should pack out bags now, there is no point in delaying because anything can happen at this point of the pregnancy.

Re: Maternity leave. The gynae has filled in the yellow form and the HR Lady has done her forms. I need to go to the bank to have them fill the last form in then I'm good to go.

Our antenatal class was on breastfeeding.

It was a basic breastfeeding class.

Did you know that a teaspoon of colostrum is enough to keep a baby full for longer than 10 teaspoons of formula.

The baby's tummy is as small as a marble on day 1 of his/her life and as big as a ping pong ball on day 10.
This results in the different feeds everyday. So a baby may feed for 5minutes today and 3 days later it will increase as his tummy gets bigger.

Also, that it's absolutely not necessary to give anything else besides breast milk in the 1st 6months. As useful as the gripe water and other medication are they should not be given unless there is a reason for it. They said that a lot of mothers give stuff like colic medication even if baby doesnt have colic because they think it will prevent colic. This should not be the case.

In the beginning it is absolutely necessary to feed on demand and not to have a schedule, this will help increase of breast milk. babies should not e woken up for a feed no matter what, unless instructed to do so by a doctor.

The baby's stool wil at first be black then green then yellow. It is very normal for a baby (after a few weeks of life) to go for days without passing stools. This does not mean that he is constipated at all, unless he/she shows signs of being uncomfortable.

Giving baby water whilst breastfeeding is not recommended. Most gym instructors tell you to drink plenty of water if you're looking to loose weight. Most babies do not pick up weight because of the water they are being given. Water is of no benefit to the baby at all.

Our weekend was okayy, could have been better, feel our time was not used constructively so feeling very frustrated with my hubby at the moment..

Googlebug I fortunately do not need to apply for UIF as Absa gives us full pay for 4 months, just have to sign a contract to work back 12 months after return or alternatively pay back the 4 months if you should leave before..

It's still a boy. We got a picture of his scrotum.



The dark thing on his face is the placenta. Apparently they love the cushion of the placenta. We couldnt get a proper picture because he kept putting his foot in his eye and because he kept hiding his face with the placenta.
