Miks- I know my friends are very worried about me and my controlling nature. They complained that I had too many questions and that I need to relax because things will fall into place.

GOOD NEWS LADIES

I'M FINALLY GRADUATING :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I'm waiting for correspondence from the varsity which we should get after the 13th August. I'm gonna go up on stage with my bump looking all fabulous :P with my hubby by my side. CANNOT WAIT..

I will do a list of due dates again with baby's gender and delivery method.

Ladies- My friends told me that pregnant, especially first time moms such as myself, should not buy clothes because the bay shower will take care of that. Grandparents and extended family members who come to see the baby will come bearing gifts (clothes).

Hallo!

GML... i laughed at your questionnaire! What a good idea!! I think you got pretty good advice.... I need to start buying nappies asap. I am not too worried about the formula cause i want to breast feed for as long as possible. I used wash cloths with Mik when i was home too, works like a charm and you can use warmish water which must be nicer for them than cold wipes!

I cant remember.... but who is planning natural and who is having a c-section? I am still hoping for natural... no drugs. That being said i must say that i am more scared this time around.. LOL TIme is flying, ladies..... one of these days we are going to be cuddling our precious babas! :woohoo:

Blessed with a beautiful daughter and an awesome baby boy!

Hello ladies

Why so quite today?

Miks, I have moved on to maternity wear. I got some nice stuff at Edgars. My own clothes I war underneath lol. The t-shirts and vest go down only up to my belly button :)

Google. I drew up a questionnaire and sent it to all my friends with kids. Most suggest you get jumbo packs 3 of newborns, and 2 or 2 bigger sizes. Keep the slips as you can always exchange them.

So I'm buying 3 newborn, 3 size 1/2 and 3 size 3. These will help in case the baby is big and has outgrows the newborns quickly etc.
Let me give you a breakdown of the answers I got.

Nappies- they all use/used Pampers. between 5 & nappies per day (if baby poops u change otherwise they can absorb urine and may not need to change nappy if it's just urine)

Wetwipes- Use a wetwipe with every change. Non scented ones. A friend said she used them when in public but used a warm wet cloth when at home. Baby boom sells 6 packets of 82 wipes for just under R150 (I think)

Bottles- the ladies used NUK adn AVENT. It's also dependant on your pocket. All used Microwave sterilisers.

Formula
- peads told them which formula to use. This will be done at the hospital before you leave etc.

Bath/skin- JnJ came out tops, but they all used unscented aqueous(sp) cream on them. Vaseline or bum cream works on their bums quite well.

Tehy suggested I buy 1 large bottle of baby shampoo and the like as they will last for quite some time.

Hope it helps. I know I felt much calmer after reading their answers to my questions

Hey ladies,

Don't get me started on the clothing, I have a limited wardrobe at the moment, yesterday I wore a skirt but used my hair band to hold the button closed....improvising is my middle name now... :)

Googlebug it's difficult to say exactly how many packs, but if I can remember correctly my daughter the first month went through about 7 to 8 nappies a day...Rather have enough than too little, if you have too many you can always try and exchange it for a bigger size at baby city or Reggies if need be...

Today is my appointment, leaving at 14:30 so looking forward to seeing my baba again..

Good morning everyone!

Miksmommy, I know what you mean about nothing fitting, my tummy has expanded enormously this past week! Luckily all my pants still fit, its just the tops that are getting short/tight.

Wow, the nappy issue is confusing! GML I'm as lost as you. Tanya, when you say stock up on newborn nappies, how much do you mean? Any idea how many packets should we buy in advance? I would hate to run out in the first few days but I also don't want to overstock and then have too many or find that baby doesn't agree with the brand I bought.

Mutha2b, hope you're feeling better, sounds like you;re going through a rough time.

GML, have you decided on a gynae?
