This morning driving Brandon to school, we had a conversation that ran along these lines :

B - who is that singing ?
Me - It's Lady gaga on the radio sweetie.
B - Do you like her
Me - some of her music is good, do you like it
B - No
Moment of silence

B - So why doesn't she come into the house mama ?
Me - Well she lives in another country
B - No she does not ! She is in the radio

I try to explain about recording the song, so the rest of the world can hear her music

B- they stole her voice!!! How does she talk now ?

Now I have a rather concerned young man who thinks people go around stealing your voice

The one rewarding aspect of this forum is that you learn that your kid is just like everyone else - or better still moms share the same frustrations and have the same weaknesses.
I agree with Julz that this is a great period in their development - to see them beginning to understand language and figuring out how to use it. But shame its also very frustrating, not being able to make yourself understood, especially when you know exactly what you want.
I think its also especially challenging when you are tyring to raise them multilingual - the way we are trying to. I speak Afrikaans to Ethan whilst his dad and his grandma who looks after him speak English and he goes to an English play school one a week. He understand both languages very well, but when he speaks I often do not know whether its Afrikaans, English or "Baby"!

MHM that is so precious.
My SIL tells her children, she will count to 3 and then she wants them in the bath/bed etc. After a while they started counting by themselves after she said " I will count to 3..."

Having a child is much harder than I thought it would be!!

MHM that is so sweet and funny.

My friend told his daughter that he is going to take her dvd player away if she continues her nonsense. A few minutes later she came into the lounge with her dvd player and handed it to her. B)

@LizeP - may I introduce you to Mia who is 3 years 2 months old going on 13 years old!!!. :P
Me: "Mia, do you want a smack"
Mia:"Yes mommy".
There you go, now you've met a toddler who says yes. Plus, she takes her chair and puts herself in the naughty corner and proceeds to scream as though I pinched her.

Plus...
Me: "Mia, I'm the mommy, you are the little girl, don't argue with me!"
Mia: "But I am also a mommy. I'm Molly's mommy". Molly is her doll.

But then they just melt your heart with a great big "I love you with all my great big heart mommy".

My nephew says "Mommy, don't shout at me, Jesus is watching you and He doesn't like it if you shout at me." He was 4 and 1/2 then. :P

LOL Julz !

I remember my mother saying to me "I hope you have children JUST like you !" during some teenage tantrum. I think she cursed me

I was cleaning the lounge of toys for the 10th time yesterday and I had a chuckle as I remember my mom saying wait till you have your own kids. Your house will never be the same. So true.
