@ Lillyr, thank you for the wishes and one can just hold thumbs

@ fairychild, sorry about your BFN as I really know how you are feeling but AF is not here so you are still in the game and will be thinking about you.

@ HoopVirDie Beste, how are you coping with the dreaded tww?

@ Morgan, thank you for all the info and now I have a much clearer picture on how we go from here. My medical aid did cover my tests so I suppose it will cover my tests if I need to go for the internal sonar. I just can't wait for hubby to go in and to know what is going on. At least we are getting closer to finding out why we are not conceiving and getting the help we need :)

Sorry to hear about your tubes and that the egg is not as big as you hoped but glad that the IUI will make it easier for the swimmers to reach the egg. Everything sounds very positive and you sound very optimistic. Aren't you glad now that you went and know what is going on and what to do to progress forward. I am super excited for you and thinking that this might be the cycle you have been waiting for :cheer: When must you start taking the pills?

Have a great evening further

Good Afternoon Ladies!!

@ fairychild - Hoping that it's just too early to get a BFP on the PT!! It's not over until the dreaded AF arrives so...

OK, so went to see gynae. First thing she asks when she saw hubby and I was 'I hope you have good news for me!' Whereupon I replied, 'Sadly no.'

She looked disappointed and said that the last time she saw me (in December) I had a nice big egg and she was 'really positive' about that one.

She asked what we would like to do now. Would we like to try a medicated cycle and see if it works this time round or would we like to dive in and do IUI.

I told her that the fertomid pills worked, I felt myself ovulate and she also saw herself that I had a nice big egg so, the pills aren't the problem. It's the tubes, then she looked at radiologist's report from hsg test and said that he wrote that the right one is blocked and the left one is partially blocked so she knows that that's been my concern since medicated cycle in December didn't work.

She also said that with IUI, the sperm is injected via a plastic tube very close to the mouth of the tubes so that they're closer together and don't have to struggle so hard in trying to get from the cervix, through the uterus, swim up the tubes (partially blocked in my case) and find the egg then. They make the distance travelled shorter so that the swimmers aren't too tired.

So, after that discussion, we went to have an internal sonar which just once again proved that my eggs don't become big enough. This month's egg isn't even a cm big

Was given a prescription for femara or something (can't make out her writing!!) which I have to start taking CD 5 - 9. Then have to see her again on CD 12 / 13 to get trigger shot and then within 36 hours I should ovulate and have to go back to see her again so that IUI can take place.

She also said that this time she's going to give me a progesterone supplement or something that will (when I conceive  ) help to maintain the embryo.

So, that's my news. Feeling pretty good actually. Hubby kept looking at me, probably sure that I was going to cry but I feel that now at least, we're moving in a direction towards our goal. I can't standing sitting still, waiting (which is why tww is TORTURE) not sure of what the next step is. Now at least, we have something to work towards and we have a timeframe in which to work as well.

Ladies, thanks for all the support.
To those in the tww, STRONGS!!

Lots of love and baby dust.

xx

Thanks guys!!

Am sitting here telling myself to 'just breathe and relax'. I mean seriously? Why be nervous? lol!!

Jaybee, I know that the internal sonar / exam was booked under a 'normal' consultation at the gynae and the medical aid paid for it except the amount above the set medical aid tariff. Some gynaes / FS etc ask private rates which is higher than set medical aid rate.

The hsg test (to check if fallopian tubes are open) was also covered by medical aid. I was lucky in that the guy that did my test claims directly from the medical aid. The other option that I had said that I have to pay R2 000 cash and then I had to claim it back from the medical aid myself. So maybe just hear if the radiologist claims directly from medical aid or if you have to. Also, the R2 000 that the other guys asked was R700 MORE than what the radiologist I used asked.

I think it might also depend on what medical aid you guys are on. I know that the blood tests and semen analysis tests were both covered by our medical aid. Ironically, my blood tests were much more expensive than the semen analysis.

All the best. Hope that everything comes out 100% for you and that soon you'll have a BFP!!

@lillyr - Yeah, rather lose a little cash than a miscarriage. Really, I agree with you there.

Lots of love guys. Enjoy the day and will let you guys know a little later.

xx

@Morgan..all the best today dear. You are in our thoughts. Regarding the decision i face, i will go ahead and register, if i do conceive i will cancel(and forfeit whatever i have already paid.). I really do not want any pressure when i am preggy as I am high risk already.

@Jaybee-- thats great news that all is ok with you. I presonally dont have any experience around what results mean. Keeping fingers crossed that he is also ok. Dont worry much, if hubby is ok (apparently its ussually a bigger issue if its the man who has issues), then whatever it is that stopping conception will be easy to resolve..all the best dear

@HoopVDB- i think most of us have started the new cycle already, i think Cakes is still in the tww though. yaa tww is a terrible time. I was literally always on the edge of my chair cos i noticed/probably made up symptoms..LOL. all the best dear. hoping for a BFP for you.
