@ Liza. Our GP gave us a small Pathcare plastic sample cup which looks like the soya sauce take away cups you get. He made his deposit in the cup at home and we took it to Pathcare which was just around the corner at the hospital. The sample has to reach Pathcare within the hour and be kept at body temperature which they said to hold the container against his skin. They did say that intercourse is not recommended a few days leading up to the sample day as well as on the sample day.

Much easier at home and then very quickly taking it to Pathcare (its called the Sperm Analysis test).

I'm sorry but this typo ('infidelity') instead of infertility really made me giggle.

When my gynae was suggesting fertomid for me he also said if we hadn't had any luck after 3 months then not only would he run blood tests etc on me, but we should get dh tested too. So it's nice to know they also are aware that it can me the guy and not always the woman.
[we didn't go the fertomid route in the end and neither of us have had any testing to date. Not sure we will go that route]

Afternoon Ladies!

After Ninies post it bothers me a lot that hubby has not been tested as yet.

So we had a chat about it last night and decided to do the test in June. Now the problem that i have is that hubby says he won't be able to give a sperm sample at the clinic

I was reading up on alternative ways to give a sample. So they say that there is a condom that is provided by the clinic that can be used. After intercourse you throw the little swimmers in the cup and take it to the clinic within the hour. Has anyone heard of this or done it this way?

@ Inca, yes the tests showed that I was not ovulating so the Gyna put me on Fertomid. I ovulated last month for the first time and really hoping for our BFP this month. Not really sure when I ovulate so hopefully we BD on the right days. I am currently on CD9 and getting excited for the big O.

I normally spot the day before full AF arrives.

@ Jay-Bee: Thanks so much Thanks for the useful info as well! Good to know it's not necessary to pay exorbitant amounts to have hubby tested if need be. Have you been at all for a check up by the gynae?

@ Ninies, sorry to hear about the news you have received , I will be thinking of you and holding thumbs and I agree it only takes one!
Stay positive and just know that you have a beautiful son already so it can and will happen again.

My GP sent both my husband and myself for tests before she would refer my to a Gyna for infidelity. My husband was ruled out and the problem lays with me. I strongly suggest that the male partners get tested as well, you just give a sample to Pathcare and the cost is +- R450. I can understand that its more difficult for a male to get tested as it might feel like an "attack" against is manhood. But then you will have a broader picture of what is happening.

Thanks so much Mrs Smith - really hope it is what I think it is and, not the witch arriving super early. Wore a panty liner when I went to bed last night but nothing more this morning. Had slight brown spotting when I wiped. Still have some dull cramps. Really hoping this is our prayers answered
