Trying for a 2016 baby

Hi ladies,

I have a question regarding OPK's. I tested in the mornings first thing and on my CD14 I got a positive on the Clearblue easy tests.
I had one Clearblue digi left and thought I would use it the same afternoon but that was negative......

Could it be that I then ovulated somewhere between the morning and the afternoon? Isn't the tests supposed to tell you 12-48 hours in advance?

I am now wondering if I misread my test. Can you ladies please have a look at the below if you would also take it as a + OPK?
The Test / Surge line was definitely darker than the other line. Unfortunately I did not think to test the next morning...

If the test line is the one near the bottom of the pic, I would say that definitely looks positive.

The surge does not necessarily last the full 12-48 hours. It is actually very easy to completely miss the surge testing only once a day.

For example, if you testing Monday morning, and then your surge started midday monday, it could already be gone by the time you test Tuesday morning, or tapering off already. So even if you did get a positive test on tuesday morning, it could be completely gone by tuesday afternoon.

so I would say stick with the fact you got a positive opk, and make sure to bd that day, and the next.

The surge does not = ovulation. The surge comes before ovulation, 12-48 hours before. BUT, that doesn't mean once the test is negative you have already ov'd. If you get a positive opk Tuesday morning, you will ovulate any time between tuesday evening and Thursday evening I think. But the tests could easily be negative again by tuesday evening. The surge doesn't stay up all the way until ovulation.

But yes, take the positive opk and bd, that day and the next. The negative one that afternoon does not mean you have already ov'd, just that the surge has passed.

Well I had a clear darker line on Sunday and we BD in the afternoon at least my temp was also at 36.30. Got a higher temp yesterday 36.70 and this morning it was down to 36.6 again. I used a OPK yesterday, but the line was so faint that you almost couldn't see it, so I really don't know .

@Nix - I used Folic acid for 4 months, my cycle got messed up and almost got all the side effects, I also thought that I was pregnant but it felt unreal so I checked the side effects and I am now no longer using Folic acid. My cycle was around 27 days and last month it was only 25 days. It was crazy. GL with that, maybe you should read the side effects and go from there.

@Mrs Smith - Sorry that you are having a bad day with your moods. I blame it on the weather. Always works I hope you feel better, and If all else fails take a long warm bubble bath tonight. I think I am going to do just that

I am currently on CD12, got a positive OV test on Sunday - or I think I did. At least we BD the afternoon (TMI). I don't know what is going on with my cycle this month. I normally have a longer OV cycle (all the creamy, clear things sorry for TMI) and it seems as if there is nothing this month. Only little bit on Sunday and Yesterday. I don't know what is going on Hopefully everything will be normal again next cycle.

Yip I temp and chart as well, lol CD4 is boring but before you know it you will be in your fertile week.

I also get called negative as I have a feeling that this cycle at 50mg won't work and I will need to be uped to 100mg next month. I also worry about all strange baby things (like we need more baby space) and I am not even pregnant yet

I am sure that everything is fine with you and OPK's can help in letting you know when you are about to ovulate. I used to use them but not anymore, its rather expensive and I never used to really get a good positive result.

Be positive as everything is working out exactly like it should... that goes for me too

Ah fantastic! have you been temping at all this cycle to see the results after O? Im on CD4... boring!!! Have started temping and will use my OPK this month, Im trying hard to be positive but just cant bring myself to believing that everything is okay with my body. DH says i'm a negative person.... maybe scared is more appropriate!
