So last night I did the first bottle feed.

I had to espress milk after a few feeds to make up a bottle for him but eventually got there. Luke took to the bottle straight away and drank about 150mls. I then espressed my bottle that I will feed him with today and managed to espress 170mls in one go so that was great and now I can continue with this routine. He also took to the breast fine afterwards. :)

Hoping this continues to work well.

I used the Nuk wideneck from the time my son came home from hospital...breastfed and bottlefed, and he didn't seem to mind which way he got his milkies, only that he got them :)
He was a bit reluctant at first but he got the hang of it very soon...

Hi

both my kids got nipple confusion. One at 6 weeks and the other after I introduced a bottle at 3 months for the first time and it still happened. I used Nuk. I subsequently found out from a Lactation specialist that the Tommy Tippee bottles cause the least if any nipple confusion.

bundle don't worry if he takes less. I fed dylan very often so his tummy was small. If luke goes for long stretches then yes he will manage more, but don't stress if he doesn't.

If he is reluctant squirt some milk from the teat into his mouth.

Julz, noted, I'm going to use the teat with the smaller hole to start off with :)

I went to the pead yesterday and asked him about introducing the bottle now and he recommends doing it now as if you wait too long some babies will not take to the bottle at all. So today I am going to espress for the afternoon feed and I am hoping he takes to the bottle and still enjoys the boob!

Pead said he will probably drink between 100ml - 150ml now. So will see. ;)

Dee sorry about the nipples. Hope they heal nicely. Not all babies become nipple confused so see how it goes. xx

I also think that if the teat has a really small hole and baby has to suck a fair amount on the bottle it will reduce the risk.

I often think babies prefer the bottle as it is less work.
