@Julz - How do you recommend I go about it, do I espress at the time of the feed and then give it to him, or should I espress at the end of his feed and give that bottle to him the next day? I need all the advice I can get and I will definitly wait till 6 weeks, going to ask them at the breastfeeding clinic when I go there at 6 weeks, also will ask the peadiatrition.

@beansmom - what soccer match are you going to, I'm going to the "round of 16".

I started using a bottle for one feed at 3 months in prep for daycare and managed to do both for 9 months.

Julz with Megan I waited until after about 4 months, but once she got used to the bottle which wasn't easy (she would just refuse and screamed and screamed), she wasn't keen on the boob anymore.

Bundle of joy wait till at least 6 weeks if you can. This is the time when nipple confusion kicks in. Justine would also be able to give you very great advice.

He might take to the bottle easily, but he might not. My 2nd LG took a while to get use to the bottle. Also try and let someone else feed him, instead of you. The first time you feed him, try to breastfeed first and then stop half way and introduce the bottle. Lots of people change the teat as they think the baby does not like the teat, but most times they just don't like to be bottle fed. Just keep offering the bottle. Once they get use to the bottle a lot of them don't want the breast anymore, but I do know some moms that did this successfully. The less you breastfeed, the less milk you will have. I tried to breastfeed my girls in the mornings and evenings once I had to go back to work, but my milk supply just didn't want to play along. If you express, your milk supply should be fine. I used NUK bottles and teats, but I think the Tommy Tippee looks a bit more natural.

I need to introduce the bottle shortly as I am going to one of the soccer matches in June and he will need to be bottle fed (espressed breastmilk) by whomever is going to babysit him. Think I will try to give the bottle at 1 feed every now and then to get him used to it and hopefully it will work. I don't intend on stopping breastfeeding so am hoping he won't get confused. I also think it will be useful for when we go out to have an espressed bottle so I don't need to worry about having to breastfeed him esp in public.

Any ladies have advice on how I should go about this?
